Fab Freebie: Matchmaker, Matchmaker

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

Our winner, thanks to the willy nilly matchmaking skills of random.org, is… Sharon (who’s hoping to be matched up with a piece of art to finish off a master bedroom renovation). Congrats!

Art.com is full of affordable stuff to help solve Naked Wall Syndrome (like these horse prints that we recently purchased) so we’re psyched that they’re giving away an $250 gift card to one of you lucky folks this week. They’ve launched a new tool called Match My Image that promises to come in handy next time you’re hunting for the perfect piece. You just upload an image – maybe of a fabric that you’re trying to coordinate or a photo that you’re using as inspiration – and it spits out a slew of art in that color scheme/vein that’s available for purchase. Here’s what we happened upon when we uploaded a couple of personal pictures (a photo of the river here in Richmond and a painting that Clara recently whipped up). Fun, right?

ArtDotComGiveaway

  • PRIZE: A $250 gift card to Art.com
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MATCH ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us if you’ve ever tried playing matchmaker? Or has someone else tried to match you up? How did it all work out? Was it amazing? Or should you (or your would-be matchmaker) stick to their day job?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 13th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Art.com.

    Match Me!

My ex boyfriend and I decided to hook up a mutual friend and his cousin in high school so we would have people to double date with. My ex and I didn’t work out but our friends got married 2 years ago after 2 years of dating!

I discovered YHL when we bought out first house and i needed to know how to paint wood paneling. So not only are he and I a match but we and YHL are too!! Thanks for the help!

I am playing matchmaker right now with one of my girlfriends, and my husband’s good friend. They went out about 5 years ago due to me setting them up. Nothing happened, and then they got matched up on a dating website! I couldn’t believe it, so I made them go out with each other again and they had fun this time around. They’ve been out 3-4 times since. So hoping it works out!

    MATCH ME!

My roommate thought I would get along well with one of her boyfriend’s friends. We all met up at a pool party one day last summer and it turns out he had the maturity level of a 6 year old and turned EVERYTHING I said into a sexual innuendo within the first 10 minutes of our “conversation”. I politely excused myself from the party after he wouldn’t stop following me around and talking about what a great rear-end I had.

I certainly let me EX-roommate know to keep her day job and never again attempt to match ANYONE up EVER AGAIN!!

    Match Me!

My wife and I were guests of the same family for a horse race. After I met my wife-to-be, I let slip to my friend that I thought his sister’s friend was cute. Unbeknownst to me, he informed his sister, who informed her friend. The next day, at the race, we got to know each other, and have been together since.

That was in 2005. We’ve been married for 2.5 years now.

tell us if you’ve ever tried playing matchmaker? Yes, I tried to set up my male best friend with a close female friend.

Or has someone else tried to match you up? Yes, once a friend tried to set me up with a guy named Eric… Just because his name was Eric…

How did it all work out? The couple I set up dated for 2 years, but eventually broke up… So, I’d say I did ok-ish. The date with Eric and Erica was a once only phenomenon… Apparently, having similar names is not as important as having similar interests… Who knew!

Was it amazing? Or should you (or your would-be matchmaker) stick to their day job? I might try it again some day… I hope she does not!

It didn’t work out, of course… SO, ladies… would you like to meet a quiet, sweet, history buff architect? HMMMM???

A friend of mine once set me up with a guy from her church. The guy came to pick me up for our date in his truck. He had a decal in the rear window behind his seat with his name, and a decal behind the passenger’s seat with his ex-girlfriend’s name. He spent the whole night talking about her. I didn’t let my friend set me up again!

The closest I came to matchmaking was pushing a friend to go to this party he kept talking about “maybe going to.” He ended up meeting a girl there, coming home and gushing about her (while thanking me profusely for encouraging him to go)…a few years later and she is his wife. :)
