Fab Freebie: Matchmaker, Matchmaker

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

Our winner, thanks to the willy nilly matchmaking skills of random.org, is… Sharon (who’s hoping to be matched up with a piece of art to finish off a master bedroom renovation). Congrats!

Art.com is full of affordable stuff to help solve Naked Wall Syndrome (like these horse prints that we recently purchased) so we’re psyched that they’re giving away an $250 gift card to one of you lucky folks this week. They’ve launched a new tool called Match My Image that promises to come in handy next time you’re hunting for the perfect piece. You just upload an image – maybe of a fabric that you’re trying to coordinate or a photo that you’re using as inspiration – and it spits out a slew of art in that color scheme/vein that’s available for purchase. Here’s what we happened upon when we uploaded a couple of personal pictures (a photo of the river here in Richmond and a painting that Clara recently whipped up). Fun, right?

ArtDotComGiveaway

  • PRIZE: A $250 gift card to Art.com
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MATCH ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us if you’ve ever tried playing matchmaker? Or has someone else tried to match you up? How did it all work out? Was it amazing? Or should you (or your would-be matchmaker) stick to their day job?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 13th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Art.com.

Match Me! Tried to hook my roommate up with this cute guy I knew… She was not interested, and it turned out he was only interested in her because he thought I was not into him. Once this information became known we immediatly started dating and were married w/in 18 months :) Expecting our first child in Oct!

A fellow teacher played matchmaker for me. Neither my date or myself had ever been on a blind date before. (Yup, blind date virgins.) Two years later to the day, we got married. In December we will celebrate our 8th anniversary with our 3 kids and big ole dog Buford.

    MATCH ME!

My mother was a bank teller, and when I moved back home after college, she matched me with two of her customers… those she knew had stable checking/savings accounts! Neither match panned out romantically, but I am still good friends with one of them!

    MATCH ME!

And I’ve never tried to set anyone up, but I would if I thought they were compatible.

    HOWEVER!

When me and my husband were just in high school we dated in the summer and broke up. Later at the county fair, his twin cousins from our West were visiting (unknown to me they were his cousins).

They were hanging out with a friend of mine, and told me I should meet someone who would be a perfect match. We ran into that match and it was Joel, my ex (my husband now)… it was strange having her say we were perfect for each other and we had already dated (unknown to her).

It wasn’t a bad break up, just the wrong time and we both still very much liked each other :)

in the end, we were together and still going strong!

My husband and I played matchmakers while we were engaged. We each had a friend who had really similar interests so we decided to get them together. They must have hit it off because they got married a year later!

I tried to play matchmaker only once as well. I still maintain that it might have worked if they both just hadn’t been so aware of the matchmaking going on behind the scenes, darn it.

Almost three years ago I was matched to my lovely boyfriend by a mutual friend, and last week we signed a lease and will be officially shacking up a month from now! This blog serves as daily inspiration on how we can make our new (and terribly tiny) love nest ours. Hopefully he will enjoy home improvements as much as John does :)

I was Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof during high school…and she sings “Matchmaker, matchmaker, make me a match!”. One of the best parts I ever had.

I don’t play matchmaker in real life, though I accidentally introduced an old girl friend to a guy friend and they dated for a while.
