Fab Freebie: Matchmaker, Matchmaker

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

Our winner, thanks to the willy nilly matchmaking skills of random.org, is… Sharon (who’s hoping to be matched up with a piece of art to finish off a master bedroom renovation). Congrats!

Art.com is full of affordable stuff to help solve Naked Wall Syndrome (like these horse prints that we recently purchased) so we’re psyched that they’re giving away an $250 gift card to one of you lucky folks this week. They’ve launched a new tool called Match My Image that promises to come in handy next time you’re hunting for the perfect piece. You just upload an image – maybe of a fabric that you’re trying to coordinate or a photo that you’re using as inspiration – and it spits out a slew of art in that color scheme/vein that’s available for purchase. Here’s what we happened upon when we uploaded a couple of personal pictures (a photo of the river here in Richmond and a painting that Clara recently whipped up). Fun, right?

ArtDotComGiveaway

  • PRIZE: A $250 gift card to Art.com
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MATCH ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us if you’ve ever tried playing matchmaker? Or has someone else tried to match you up? How did it all work out? Was it amazing? Or should you (or your would-be matchmaker) stick to their day job?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 13th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Art.com.

    MATCH ME!

Four years ago a mutual friend decided to play matchmaker and get my husband and me to meet for the first time at another friend’s birthday party at a karaoke bar. Last year we celebrated her good judgment by asking her to do a reading at our wedding.
Artwork for our walls is one thing we really need more of, so it would be great to be matched up with this giveaway. Thanks for the chance!

I don’t play matchmaker. I don’t want to be the reason anyone gets hurt!

I thought my kid-sisterly-friend was trying to play matchmaker, but it ended up we both liked the same guy; she just wanted to know what I thought of him to see if I approved of her going in for the kill. I misjudged her question and said I liked him a lot and was eager because I thought she thought he liked me too. When she heard, she backed off because she had another guy in mind at the same time anyway. I ended up having stronger, more serious feelings for him; he felt the same way. We are married. :D

    Match me, please!

I tried matchmaking for my husband’s divorced brother. I thought I knew exactly what kind of girl would work for all of us (fit into the family nicely after the first wife DISASTER pick). Boy was I off, you don’t want to know!
He was eventually set up with a friend’s sister (the friend had done some clever ‘think outside the box’ matching) and this amazing girl was exactly the opposite of who I would have picked.
She’s my new-sis-in law now and one of my besties!!

    MATCH ME!!!

In high school I played matchmaker with two of my good friends. We were somewhat of a musketeer gang, if you will, but I knew (as odd woman out) that there was something there. Finally, both of them secretly admitted to me that they liked each other. Although he was seeing someone (no one else liked), I decided it was time for them to be happy instead of pining for each other. One night we all went out for dinner and on the way home I put a hand on each of their shoulders and said, “Would the two of you just get together already?!” They’ve been together ever since. They recently celebrated their 3 year wedding anniversary, have an awesome 2-year-old, Jack, and are expecting their second, Sophie. It’s been a blessing to see their cute little family grow.

While I enjoy my current job, it’s always nice to know I have a good backup.

Match me! I have never played match maker per say, but when a friend in college was unsure about a guy i stated “What is the worst that could happen, you fall in love with him?” And indeed she did and they are married. Not sure I would be a good matchmaker bc if it feel apart I wouldn’t want any bad blood. Does matchmaking usually end well?

Now if you want to talk about matchmaking as in furniture, I sure can match some pieces in a house without fail ;)

She called me right after asking if I had a problem with her husband and if that was why I was trying to set her up! So embarrassing, NEVER PLAYING MATCHMAKER AGAIN!
