Fab Freebie: Home Depot Gift Card & Tools

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

Thanks to random.org’s trusty randomness, we’ve got our winner and it is… Gretchen B (whose husband is “a mastermind with wood. He can make almost anything, at times he has surprised himself at what he canters up.”). That sounds familiar. Congrats Gretchen!

Sorry this post is a few minutes late (380 pages of book proofing = crazytown). But Happy Almost Father’s Day everyone! To help us celebrate, Home Depot is giving away an $100 man card, er, gift card so one lucky reader gets a fast and easy way to show their handy hubby/dad/uncle/brother/grandpa/neighbor how much they care… or how much they really want them to finish that project. Home Depot’s also throwing in a RYOBI 18V ONE+ Lithium Ion Compact Drill Kit (valued at $150) because no tool collection is complete without a power drill and driver. Plus this one weighs less than three pounds and the battery lasts four times longer than your everyday battery. So guys, I’ll guess we’ll all have to come up with another excuse to take a break from our to-do lists.

Home Depot Fathers Day Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A $100 Home Depot gift card and a RYOBI 18V ONE+ Lithium Ion Compact Drill Kit
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what’s the “manliest” quality of the person you’re celebrating this coming weekend. Do you admire your dad’s ability to fix anything? Do you just love seeing the father of your children with a little bit of stubble? Or maybe the way your brother plays with your nieces earns him major guy-points in your book?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 13th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Home Depot.

My manly baby-boomer dad was amazing at raising three daughters, and was a totally equal parent with my mom. He brushed our hair, sang us songs, taught us to dance by having us stand on his feet… and has been renovating (and re-renovating) my parents’ house for over 30 years with lots of love.

    HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!

My dad earned the nickname “The Mole” from our neighbours because he was always out in the yard digging on the weekend. He’s a workaholic now, so he doesn’t have the time to do any yard work, so I’m taking (along with the help of my girlfriend) over his role.

My hubby’s manliest qualities are the sacrifices he makes for me and our kids. This summer he’s sending us on a huge vacation to visit my sister and we will be leaving before Father’s Day, so he’ll be spending it alone. He had so many plans for summer projects, but sending us on this trip has cut his project budget.

I will be celebrating two fathers this Sunday:

    2. My grandpa who loves to do special projects to make his home beautiful for his wife, his kids, his grandkids, and his friends and family.

What I admire most about my dad is his willingness to tackle projects he’s never done before. Level an old foundation? Yeah, no problem. Build a fireplace mantle? All over that. He did both very well. As a result I’m not afraid to grab power tools and try something I’ve never done before either.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! I am always impressed that my husband seems to know everything about ev-er-y-thing around the house. He does it all – built our kitchen cabinets, lays flooring, all the plumbing and electrical, tiling, landscaping, built most of our furniture, the list goes on. I literally have no idea how he knows it all, but I am super lucky to have him! I can only hope that we can pass all of that amazing-ness down to our son, so that one day his wife can be just as lucky!
