Fab Freebie: Home Depot Gift Card & Tools

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

Thanks to random.org’s trusty randomness, we’ve got our winner and it is… Gretchen B (whose husband is “a mastermind with wood. He can make almost anything, at times he has surprised himself at what he canters up.”). That sounds familiar. Congrats Gretchen!

Sorry this post is a few minutes late (380 pages of book proofing = crazytown). But Happy Almost Father’s Day everyone! To help us celebrate, Home Depot is giving away an $100 man card, er, gift card so one lucky reader gets a fast and easy way to show their handy hubby/dad/uncle/brother/grandpa/neighbor how much they care… or how much they really want them to finish that project. Home Depot’s also throwing in a RYOBI 18V ONE+ Lithium Ion Compact Drill Kit (valued at $150) because no tool collection is complete without a power drill and driver. Plus this one weighs less than three pounds and the battery lasts four times longer than your everyday battery. So guys, I’ll guess we’ll all have to come up with another excuse to take a break from our to-do lists.

Home Depot Fathers Day Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A $100 Home Depot gift card and a RYOBI 18V ONE+ Lithium Ion Compact Drill Kit
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what’s the “manliest” quality of the person you’re celebrating this coming weekend. Do you admire your dad’s ability to fix anything? Do you just love seeing the father of your children with a little bit of stubble? Or maybe the way your brother plays with your nieces earns him major guy-points in your book?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 13th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Home Depot.

Happy Fathers Day!!! No kidding, my husband can fix anything. He grew up in his dad’s old fashioned mainstreet USA hardware store, working the floor from the time he was about 10. The ultimate Mr. Fix-It.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! I love that my dad was able to demonstrate to us that being a man could both mean the stereotypical ‘manly’ things and also the cultured and refined gentlemanly things.

My father stops whatever he’s doing when we come over and he loves to teach our boys all about his garden and orchard. He is amazing and let’s the kids have hands on experience with whatever project he’s got going.

My dad is the manliest, because he can build and fix anything. He built my 14 year old son a 14foot skiff……and he has been paralyzed from the waist down for the last 36 years…..nothing stops him!!! He is the best!

    HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!!

The manliest thing about my husband, Will, is that he’s pretty darn aware of his own limits. Whether he needs to take a pause on bickering in order to go eat something (“have a ham sandwich” is synonymous with “tune back in to the bright side of life” in our house), or to smell the baby’s head before he can tackle unloading the dishwasher, he knows how to keep himself operating at top efficiency. And top awesome.

Happy father’s day, John and Sherry and Clara and all your peeps!

Happy Father’s Day! The manliest quality about my husband? What he teaches our 3 year-old daughter. She knows what a ‘ganglion’ is and when I came home the other day they were putting action figures on the ceiling fan and turning it on at different speeds to see how much speed it took before they flew off. I’m so thankful because these are things I would NEVER think to teach her.

I love that my husband has a vast knowledge of all things cars. He saves us a lot of money and time by repairing and fixing our cars himself. He also happens to be super handy around the house. These qualities make my husband super manly!

I think the best thing about my dad is that he really listens when us kids talk to him. He gives great advice, but when you talk with him, it’s almost like he thinks what you’re saying is more important than his response. He just lets you chatter on without thinking of himself.

The manliest trait my husband displays is his love of tinkering in his wood shop in the garage while simultaneously managing to leave a pile of cords everywhere in his wake.

What really makes him a man though is captured in the tender, quiet moments with our baby boy.

My Dear Old Dad never would be accused of being handy. In fact whenever he picked up a tool of any kind we kids took off for parts unknown! Mom was the handy one, but Dad is stellar in so many other ways. He always has been a great role model – smart, strong, loyal.
I married a great guy and a DIY- er too! So far two of our three kids have embraced the DIY way of life. I’m sure the 16 year old will be a DIY-er too.
