Fab Freebie: Home Depot Gift Card & Tools

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

Thanks to random.org’s trusty randomness, we’ve got our winner and it is… Gretchen B (whose husband is “a mastermind with wood. He can make almost anything, at times he has surprised himself at what he canters up.”). That sounds familiar. Congrats Gretchen!

Sorry this post is a few minutes late (380 pages of book proofing = crazytown). But Happy Almost Father’s Day everyone! To help us celebrate, Home Depot is giving away an $100 man card, er, gift card so one lucky reader gets a fast and easy way to show their handy hubby/dad/uncle/brother/grandpa/neighbor how much they care… or how much they really want them to finish that project. Home Depot’s also throwing in a RYOBI 18V ONE+ Lithium Ion Compact Drill Kit (valued at $150) because no tool collection is complete without a power drill and driver. Plus this one weighs less than three pounds and the battery lasts four times longer than your everyday battery. So guys, I’ll guess we’ll all have to come up with another excuse to take a break from our to-do lists.

Home Depot Fathers Day Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A $100 Home Depot gift card and a RYOBI 18V ONE+ Lithium Ion Compact Drill Kit
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what’s the “manliest” quality of the person you’re celebrating this coming weekend. Do you admire your dad’s ability to fix anything? Do you just love seeing the father of your children with a little bit of stubble? Or maybe the way your brother plays with your nieces earns him major guy-points in your book?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 13th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Home Depot.

    HAPPY FATHER’S DAY, JOHN!

The manliest thing about my (step)dad is that the man really knows his home improvement stuff. He is currently remodeling their whole house with just him, my mom and the occasional helper.

My husband, a soon to be father, can grow a lumberjack beard lickety-split :) During the fall/winter seasons, working outdoors with cattle, that really comes in handy!

    Happy Father’s Day!

The manliest quality about my father is his unconditional but tough love. He has taught my sisters and I that things in life should not be handed to you, they should be earned. I admire him for teaching me the value of hard work and the importance of always giving your best.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! … The manliest thing about my husband is definitely his ability to fix anything. In 14+ years of marriage, two homes and two kids (who can break *any*thing) we have only had to call in “professionals” (e.g., electricians, plumbers, etc….) about 5 times. He’s done pretty much absolutely everything else!

    HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!

I’m actually celebrating my pseudo step dad this year — he and my mom have been together for years, although they’re not married. The manliest quality about him is that he could take the mess of our family and make us feel whole again. Almost real. There’s no manlier quality than that. ;)

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! The manliest qualities in my dad and my husband are the ability to “man up” and deal with some of the gross stuff parenthood throws at them AND a willingness to do stuff like cook dinner. Renaissance men rock.

    HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!

My dad is a truly manly man. He adored my daughter, his only grandchild, from the moment she was born, and when her father ducked out of our lives when she was less than two, he picked up the father/grandfatherhood ball and RAN. He’d worked a job requiring lots of travel when I was growing up, but was working locally when she made her debut, and he loved all the little details of her care. Her best interests were his absolute first priority. When her father sneaked back into her life, she quickly picked up on the differences and told him, in a matter-of-fact tone, that a papa was better than a daddy (my ex-husband still blames me for this). Even now, in the depth of Alzheimer’s (a truly evil disease rivaling cancer, of which my dad is a survivor), in his increasingly rare lucid moments, he asks about her welfare. He is a good, good man, and I love him dearly. I wish he could understand what Sunday will be, but it’s my hope that when he passes, he’ll be restored to the vital man that still lurks inside the fragile shell.

The “manliest” thing about my dear dad is his ability to not care how un-manly he might act. :) At 6’2 and an ex-football player, it’s pretty funny to see him give my mom decorating input around the house! Also cracks me up how excited he gets about his Aveda shampoo. Gotta love a guy who’s secure with his manliness. :)

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! My dad is “manly” because he’s the biggest DIY-er I know. Back in the days of Bob Villa and This Old House – my dad already had put on a second story addition with the help of my retired Engineer grandfather. And thirty years later he just re-did my parent’s finished basement for the third time. He doesn’t let up!

The manliest thing about my dad are his sentimental stories of his fondest times with my and my baby sister-and let me tell you, my dad is NOT sentimental.
