Fab Freebie: Home Depot Gift Card & Tools

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

Thanks to random.org’s trusty randomness, we’ve got our winner and it is… Gretchen B (whose husband is “a mastermind with wood. He can make almost anything, at times he has surprised himself at what he canters up.”). That sounds familiar. Congrats Gretchen!

Sorry this post is a few minutes late (380 pages of book proofing = crazytown). But Happy Almost Father’s Day everyone! To help us celebrate, Home Depot is giving away an $100 man card, er, gift card so one lucky reader gets a fast and easy way to show their handy hubby/dad/uncle/brother/grandpa/neighbor how much they care… or how much they really want them to finish that project. Home Depot’s also throwing in a RYOBI 18V ONE+ Lithium Ion Compact Drill Kit (valued at $150) because no tool collection is complete without a power drill and driver. Plus this one weighs less than three pounds and the battery lasts four times longer than your everyday battery. So guys, I’ll guess we’ll all have to come up with another excuse to take a break from our to-do lists.

Home Depot Fathers Day Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A $100 Home Depot gift card and a RYOBI 18V ONE+ Lithium Ion Compact Drill Kit
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what’s the “manliest” quality of the person you’re celebrating this coming weekend. Do you admire your dad’s ability to fix anything? Do you just love seeing the father of your children with a little bit of stubble? Or maybe the way your brother plays with your nieces earns him major guy-points in your book?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 13th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Home Depot.

    Happy Father’s Day!

My husband and father of our 6 month old is currently studying for the boards–he’s been at it non-stop for a month and I’m so proud of him. And I hope we win because we just bought a new house and I’ve got plenty of DIY ready for him when the studying is through…muahaha.

I am so fortunate to have a husband that knows how to fix most things around the house, but I think his manliest quality is how he takes care of our newborn son’s needs (i.e. diapering, bathing, feeding, baby talking).

Happy Father’s Day!! I love that my husband can get so much done around the house when the kids and I aren’t there. Today I came home from my parents and he had the carpets pulled up revealing the 100 year old wood floors! yea! what a guy!

    HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!
What a great give away. One of my fondest childhood memories is watching my Dad help my Mom hang all kinds of art on the wall. He perfected his wall-drilling techniques as well as his patience by endlessly holding frames against the wall and listening to the “Honey, just a little to the left…now down…a little more…right..OK OK STOP! That’s perfect right there. Ok, now, I’m going to hold it and YOU can tell me what you think…” And of course he always said, “It looks great, Dear! Are you sure this is where you want it?” and then the game would start all over! Good times. Happy Father’s Day, Poppy.

I admire the fact that my son’s father picks up and just tries to be the handy man he wasn’t raised to be. Sometimes the simplest projects take forever, but he never stops figuring out a solution. It’s a great trait and I’m thrilled he’s teaching our son that life lesson.

    Happy Father’s Day!

My dad is the greatest. I played volleyball from grade school through college. My dad was a teacher and he would open the gym for me, set up the net and spend hours practicing with me. He wasn’t a “sports dad” who forced me to do it. He rearranged his schedule, cancelled time going out with his friends and coworkers so he could be there for me when I asked. He never complained and always made me feel like the time was worth it.

You wanted the manliest thing someone has done for you. Well, my dad is the best. He was always there. He always put me and my siblings first. He showed up every day and let us know we were loved. Nothing is manlier.
