Fab Freebie: Home Depot Gift Card & Tools

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

Thanks to random.org’s trusty randomness, we’ve got our winner and it is… Gretchen B (whose husband is “a mastermind with wood. He can make almost anything, at times he has surprised himself at what he canters up.”). That sounds familiar. Congrats Gretchen!

Sorry this post is a few minutes late (380 pages of book proofing = crazytown). But Happy Almost Father’s Day everyone! To help us celebrate, Home Depot is giving away an $100 man card, er, gift card so one lucky reader gets a fast and easy way to show their handy hubby/dad/uncle/brother/grandpa/neighbor how much they care… or how much they really want them to finish that project. Home Depot’s also throwing in a RYOBI 18V ONE+ Lithium Ion Compact Drill Kit (valued at $150) because no tool collection is complete without a power drill and driver. Plus this one weighs less than three pounds and the battery lasts four times longer than your everyday battery. So guys, I’ll guess we’ll all have to come up with another excuse to take a break from our to-do lists.

Home Depot Fathers Day Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A $100 Home Depot gift card and a RYOBI 18V ONE+ Lithium Ion Compact Drill Kit
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what’s the “manliest” quality of the person you’re celebrating this coming weekend. Do you admire your dad’s ability to fix anything? Do you just love seeing the father of your children with a little bit of stubble? Or maybe the way your brother plays with your nieces earns him major guy-points in your book?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 13th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Home Depot.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! My dad is manly enough to help my mom revamp shabby chic furniture for her side business. Not all men can handle glass knobs and purple paint, but he makes it look masculine … sort of.

    HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!

My dad built a huge wrap-around deck in the back of his house, completely dug up the front stairs and deck in the front of the house, built multiple retaining walls and new stairs, and added about 20-30 different trees to the yard, all with no training and all by himself.

Happy Father’s Day to my husband, who’s manliest quality is taking care of me & the kids, even if it’s in a non-traditional way. This past week he let me do the drywall project while he held down the fort with our 6 kids. Sounds crazy, but we both needed a break from the routine!

Happy Fathers Day!! The manliest thing about my dad is that he is an old-world kind of man. He still sends my mom flowers for no reason after 40 years of marriage. After a long day at the office, he comes home and tends to his veggie garden. He makes his own wine (which is amazing), marinades his own olives, makes salame and sausages (not because he’s trying to save oney, but because he enjoys it and reminds him of his youth back in Spain). And best of all, he canfix and build anything around the houseor in the yard. From pouring cement, to building a fountain from scratch, to framing out an addition in the house. All this he does as a hobby, as in the day he is a businessman!! The fact that he is ALWAYS doing something, making something orfixing something is super manly! My om lucked out!! :)

The manliest thing about my late father was that he wasn’t ashamed to teach a GIRL about tools and painting. There are so many females who have never done anything handy and don’t think that they can. I’m grateful my father didn’t put those limitations on me, especially since it was in the 1950’s so pretty radical at the time.
