Fab Freebie: Home Depot Gift Card & Tools

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

Thanks to random.org’s trusty randomness, we’ve got our winner and it is… Gretchen B (whose husband is “a mastermind with wood. He can make almost anything, at times he has surprised himself at what he canters up.”). That sounds familiar. Congrats Gretchen!

Sorry this post is a few minutes late (380 pages of book proofing = crazytown). But Happy Almost Father’s Day everyone! To help us celebrate, Home Depot is giving away an $100 man card, er, gift card so one lucky reader gets a fast and easy way to show their handy hubby/dad/uncle/brother/grandpa/neighbor how much they care… or how much they really want them to finish that project. Home Depot’s also throwing in a RYOBI 18V ONE+ Lithium Ion Compact Drill Kit (valued at $150) because no tool collection is complete without a power drill and driver. Plus this one weighs less than three pounds and the battery lasts four times longer than your everyday battery. So guys, I’ll guess we’ll all have to come up with another excuse to take a break from our to-do lists.

Home Depot Fathers Day Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A $100 Home Depot gift card and a RYOBI 18V ONE+ Lithium Ion Compact Drill Kit
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what’s the “manliest” quality of the person you’re celebrating this coming weekend. Do you admire your dad’s ability to fix anything? Do you just love seeing the father of your children with a little bit of stubble? Or maybe the way your brother plays with your nieces earns him major guy-points in your book?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 13th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Home Depot.

My hubby is manly for many, many reasons, but I think his manliest quality is not being afraid of tackling dishes or laundry when I need a little extra help around the house.

    HAPPY FATHERS DAY!

My husband being a typical Alpha male, does not take to being told what to do very well, but when I ask him to fix something, he is all over that like white on rice. Leaky pipe under the kitchen sink? check. Tear out a wall and replace floor tiles? check. Build closet shelves? check. Put up a fence? check. I could go on and on, but I won’t. ;) I know I can always count on my manly man to get the job done.

I love that my dad can fix anything car or house related. I don’t ever remember having anyone else fix anything as a kid, so now it really bugs me when I have to pay someone to do something like that.

The manliest thing about my Hubby is when he tries to do everything himself just to make things easier for me. No matter how hard I try to help he doesn’t want any. Wether it be with things around the house or something to do with our daughter, he wants to do it.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! The manliest thing about my significant other — which I actually had NO IDEA about after until we moved in together — is that he knows how to use all sorts of power tools as a legacy of a childhood helping his grandfather and uncle with construction projects! It’s been fun to watch him acquire his own set of tools over the years, and see him do projects around our place. But I would like to upgrade to this drill…

Hmmm, my hubby’s most manly quality is his ability to laugh, be silly or even cry without! He’s considerate! He cooks! He cleans! He fixes things! And – this is a biggie – he is my go-to electronic gadget fixer!

Happy (early) Father’s Day to you, John! May you have many, many more. :-)

Happy Father’s Day! My husband and I are expecting our first baby in about a month, and my husband has been on this amazing and tenacious craigslist and antique store hunt to find the perfect rocking chair for us to use while we soothe our baby to sleep. He also looks pretty great when he smiles and practices tying on the Moby wrap around a practice doll from our childbirth education class.

We seem to be live a DIY lifestyle. Isn’t it perfectly normal for the tool bucket to life (somewhat permanently) on the dining room table?

Let’s just say that last weekend my husband decided removing our old chimney (which we no longer need thanks for a geothermal HVAC upgrade last Fall.) Just a ‘quick project.’ HA!
