Fab Freebie: Housewears

*** This giveaway is no longer accepting entries.***

Ok, so maybe you didn’t get that bit of bling you wanted for Valentine’s Day earlier this month. Here’s your chance to rectify the situation with some personalized jewelry from Lisa Leonard Designs. She even sells home decor-related pieces like necklaces with a chandelier, paper lanterns, frames and a house key on them. If those aren’t designs after our own home-loving hearts than we don’t know what is.

I’m not so good with the jewelry lingo, but word on the street (or at least from the pregnant lady standing behind me right now) is that Lisa’s hand-cut and hand-hammered sterling silver necklaces, bracelets and earrings are well-worth shouting “oooh, I love that one… and that one… and that one” in your husband’s ear. In fact, Sherry loved the earrings that Lisa sent her way so much that we recently bought a set for my little sister’s birthday. And they barely take them off (so yes, my sister and my wife are often at family events sporting matching earrings).

And if you’re having trouble picking a favorite, perhaps this will make life a bit easier: Lisa Leonard Designs is giving away TWO $100 gift certificates towards anything in her store, so our winners can snag more than one thing if they just can’t decide. Plus if you don’t win, they’re generously dishing out a discount to everyone else, so stay tuned for that along with our winner announcement on Thursday. In the meantime, here’s how to enter:

  • PRIZE: A $100 credit towards anything in Lisa Leonard Design’s entire collection
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “WEAR ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about something in your closet that doubles (or that you wish could double) as home decor. Do you display your purse collection for all to see? Do you swag a scarf over a hook by the door for some color? Or do you have a favorite dress whose fabric would look awesome as curtains or an accent pillow?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, February 24th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: All over the globe!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

This might be more than just jewelry or clothing, but my most recent tattoo is from my favorite piece of folk art! I love knowing that such a beautiful piece of act now permanently adorns my body.

I have a great scarf I bought in Mexico during a friends wedding that I use on my coffee table. I did once turn a favorite blouse into a pillowcase when my dryer shrunk it into a size too small.

Wear Me! I have a great pea coat that could be cut up and made in two some lovely throw pillows with decorative ruffles. I’m not sure that I could every actually cut up my beloved pea coat but it would look stunning as an accessory pillow on the living room couch.

Because I am not the world’s cleanest person I guess you could say that a lot of my clothes double as “home decor” That sounds way better then just not having time to pick anything up :-)

I hate waste especially cute fabric, so I have been known to cut up an old shirt or pants to make a cute pillow or something like that.

I found an adorable hook rack a couple of years ago at Anthropologie. It is so cute, that I use it on my bedroom wall to display scarves and long necklaces. Hopefully, I can score some pretty new jewelry to add to my hooks… ;)

My closet is fairly standardly boring, however my jewelry is kept out for all to see – helps me to remember to change it around and wear it rather than wearing the same pieces every day.

Oh my, Lisa Leonard jewelry is just so beautiful, thanks so much for the giveaway opportunity!

    WEAR ME!!!

I love to hang my scarves at the front door, the mix of colors gives a nice pop to my otherwise drab living room (tans, chocolate browns, and navy would be the dominate colors). I also have a fantastic chocolate brown/pink/lime green plaid dress that I’ve always wanted to replicate in throw pillows for my drab living room!

I drape my colorful costume jewerly (necklaces mostly) around the neck of a marble bust of a little girl that my mother bought when I was little. But I fell in love with it and took it with me when I moved out and it now resides in my bedroom.

    WEAR ME…please!

I have this dress that just makes me feel good. It’s a 1950’s style shirt dress. It’s black denim fabric with a tie belt. I pair it with vibrant colored accessories. When I wear it I just feel good. It helps that I also get a lot of attention when I wear it…cuz I LOOK good. If I could, I would wear it every day. I’m not kidding. I would like to transfer that feeling to everything in my house. One day, one shopping trip at a time, I will.

I gravitate toward similar colors and patterns in both home decor and my clothing – I like clean, graphic patterns – no florals! – and high contrast colors – black and white, navy and cream, orange and aqua!

I don’t have any clothing or accesories doing double duty but I’m always looking to incorporate more color into my wardrobe – and our house. The fun pop of color that red shoes bring to an all-black outfit also works the same way with deep pink flowers in our pale blue/gray dining room.

I am trying to come up with a way to display my wedding dress…a fancy hook on the wall maybe? It’s a fifties cocktail style dress so it doesn’t have a long train or anything. I just love it and would love to be able to see it everyday instead of keeping it zipped up in it’s bag.

I just recently hung a bronze curtain rod on my bedroom wall to hold all of my bracelets and necklaces. The rod just lays on the hooks so I can easily slide the jewelry on and off. It looks really pretty and I can see everything I have.
