Fab Freebie: Hi, My Name Is…

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’re back with another fantastic prize that THREE lucky winners will be able to put their names on. This one comes from Customized Stationary, a fun little Etsy shop that features playfully designed cards and prints that you can customize with everything from your first name to your family name. And they’ve kindly put together three sweet sets for our winners to choose from (each which includes a print and set of coordinating notecards) that we were so enamored with we couldn’t help but snag a set for ourselves.

Custom Station Tree

Custom Station Birds

Custom Station Stump

We had trouble picking, but ended up going with the Carved Tree set, which we got to customize not only with our name and our initials carved into the tree, but also with our choice of colors. That way we ended up with a perfect-for-us set of stationary that was almost too good lookin’ to unwrap.

Custom Station Petersiks

Want a chance to customize your own set? Here are the giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: 8×10″ print and coordinating twelve pack of 4 x 5.25 notecards in your selected design (Bird Family, Carved Tree or Stump). It’s a $27 value, but stay tuned for a YHL special discount at the end of the contest on Thursday.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CUSTOMIZE ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us about one of the last handwritten letters your sent (or received). Seems to be a dying custom in the digital age, so what was memorable about a recent time you used snail mail to send something special?
  • CONTEST CLOSES: Wednesday, September 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
  • PRIZE SHIPS: USA Only
  • THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    CUSTOMIZE ME!

I still send postcards to my best friend from every vacation we take and she does the same. We’ve sent each other postcards since we became best friends 20 years ago (and we’re only 26 now!). It’s about the only snail mail I do anymore, besides birthday cards for my out-of-state family. I love hearing about what she did on her vacay and love sharing details of mine as well! :)

My friend went to one of the smallest of the Marshall Islands (and by small I mean a half mile by a half mile) for a full year and the only way to keep in touch was through writing letters. It was so much more personal than our usual one line texts/ e-mails that even though she was so far away, we became even closer.

CUSTOMIZE ME! I sent a letter to my aunt, who gave me a crystal to hang on my rear-view mirror when I turned 16 and got my first car…12 years (and 5 cars!) later, I still have it. When I got my latest and greatest car, I sent her a letter thanking her for it, letting her know that I still had it, loved it, and thought about her everytime I see it my car!!!

CUSTOMIZE ME – These are soooo cute! I think the last time I wrote a hand written note was our wedding thank yous two years ago! I do think, however, that it’s something that people severely lack in this day and age…we’re losing the personal connections that our parents and grandparents made with people.

CUSTOMIZE ME My wonderful new husband of three weeks is a truly phenomenal writer. On our wedding day, a handwritten, absolutely personal, tear jerker of a love letter was delivered to me. One that makes you laugh and cry at the same time! The tree stationary makes me smile– about a year ago he dropped to one knee right after I carved our initials into a tree- talk about a surprise!

My sister sent me holiday cards during college and I loved receiving them so much, I made it a habit to send them to others! 6 years later, I spend a lot of money on cute thank you cards every month….this would be a hige treat for me!

CUSTOMIZE ME! I love to send and recieve hand-written notes to my husband’s aunt in NYC. We share quick stories and notes about what’s going on in our lives. Since she is in her 60’s (and has no children) she appreciates the time we take to write her a letter or card, and print out a picture of ourselves. I think something handwritten means so much more than an email or text, it shows we care and we’re taking time for her.

Ooooh Oooooh CUSTOMIZE ME! What a great idea for a wedding gift I was having trouble with.

I recently got a hand written letter from my uncle. This is his preferred method of communication, so this is how we do it. I feel like hand writing a letter flows in a different, perhaps better, way than typing one does.

My husband’s aunt loves to write handwritten notes to us for no occasion other than to say “hello”. It’s a great treat to hear from her because we only get to see her a couple of times each year. If I’m lucky enough to win, we’ll definitely use the new stationery to send a hello note to her.

I write to my grandma every week! She is so old school that she mistrusts answering machines, and cannot tell the difference between a computer and a microwave, but she loves hearing from me although I live half a world away – so I write her every week. She saves all my letters and sometimes embarrasses me by reading them aloud to her equally ancient buddies!

I recently wrote many hand-written thank you notes for our wedding. But more memorable were the hand-written cards my husband and I received from our wedding guests. Many of our friends and family wrote personal messages about us and pieces of advice to us as we start our marriage. We enjoyed reading them just as much as receiving the gifts!

CUSTOMIZE ME! My dear friend from high school who also became my best friend and roommate throughout college moved away to San Francisco a few years ago while I married the love of my life. Instead of writing e-mails or messaging on facebook we wrote each other long letters and always filled them with trinkets or drawings. She recently moved closer (only 4 hours away) but we still write letters every few months…still filled with little surprises! A hand written letter always makes my day!

When our daughter was 5 months we packed up and moved from NM to CO…in the opposite direction of my sweet grandma…I was so bummed at the realization that my daughter wouldn’t have the opportunity to spend much time getting to know her so I asked my grandma to chronicle her life, past and present, in letters to Hope. She has been such a great sport and sends about one a week. It’s a great keep sake for our daughter and I’ve learned so many things about her too!
