Fab Freebie: Gettin’ Jiggy With It

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

If you read this morning’s post about DIYing some wood shelves for the nursery, then it should come as no surprise that this week’s giveaway is from Kreg Tools. They’re giving one of you the chance to take home their Kreg Jig, so – no matter your skill level – you can feel like real woodworker.

Kreg Jig Materials

After all, I hardly consider myself to be a master craftsman, but after my latest shelf-building adventure I’m itching to tackle more wood-related projects. They really can be addicting…

Shelves Close

In addition to the Jig itself, this week’s winner will also be snagging a 675-piece Screw Kit, a Face Clamp and a set of project plans to get you started. So with all that at your disposal, I promise not to be jealous if you build something more complex than me. Here’s how to enter:

  • PRIZE: A Kreg Jig, Screw Kit, Face Clamp and set of project plans.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I’M GETTIN’ JIGGY” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your dream wood-related project. Is there something you’ve always wished you could build? Or a renovation that you dream of tackling with your own two hands?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 7th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: All 50 of the United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    I’M GETTIN’ JIGGY!!

I’ve always admired the built-in bookshelves that are so prominent in Victorian homes. I’d want to build one of those with custom carved woodwork designed by moi.

I’ve always wanted to be a finish carpenter, but I can barely nail two pieces of wood together! My dad could do everything, so in his memory I want to learn at least some of his skills.

My house is MADE to have built in shelves surrounding the fireplace, except I have a husband who is afraid of permanent. So, I really want to build shelves, that will fit in the space beautifully and look built-in, but be removable!

I want to build a TV cabinet for the corner of our living room as well as some cabinets for the second kitchen we want to put in our basement. Plus an “island type” bar for the basement living area as well. I think I’ll start with a hall mirror w/coat rack to go beside the front door. So many ideas, so little time, sigh.

My husband and I are currently building a counter height table. Our FIRST project ever. And when I say “currently” I mean that literally. And in our living room no less, since we don’t have a garage and it is still COLD where we live. We have no idea what we’re doing, but learning a lot as we go! If it turns out well, I think we’ll be building a computer desk and bookshelf for the office next! Great job on the shelves in your nursery by the way!

Oh my gosh!!! I first saw an infomercial for the Kreg last fall. I even tevo’d the thing to show my husband, but he was not as enthusiastic as I. You see, I just had a baby and as those late night/early morning feedings came, I bored of regular TV and started watching infomercials. I also liked the Wen hair program and some multitasking tool that would even do your laundry for you.
Anyway, if I won I’d make some custom bookshelves for my daughters massive library, and I’d also make a shelving tower in my master bath.

I’d love to build my own bookshelves (floor to almost ceiling) and not have to pay an arm and a leg for them. In my dream home I’ll have a room I can make a library/office and I’d love to have a built-in desk and shelves.

My dream is to repurpose driftwood or scrap wood into a beautiful coffee table. I love building in general (my to do list is very long), but I love the idea of not being able to have a definite plan when it comes to found & repurposed wood.
