It’s no secret that we loves us some HomeGoods. So how psyched are we to give one of you a $500 gift card this week? Answer: very psyched. I have been OBSESSED with lavender lately. I travel for eight weeks straight in the fall for work, and nothing relaxes me more than coming home and going straight to my bedroom for some relaxation in my lavender room (complete with black and white accents, of course.)

We just moved into a house with yellow walls. It is hard to use a lot of accent colors like red and orange because it starts to remind me of McDonalds. So I started to use the color white. Every other color seemed to create chaos and the white calmed me down and blended really well with our yellow walls. I used to think white was so boring but now Im always on the hunt for a white trinket!

I am loving pinks and browns these days. I am a new mom, and although I wanted to paint my daughter’s room pink or purple before she was born, we weren’t 100% sure she was a she. So we went with a soft green, just in case. Now I am using pinks and browns as an accent. We used one of those super cute decal trees and found another set of owls and flowers and a hedgehog(!).

We are so safe when it comes to color. But, recently, we bought a piece of furniture for our living room from a little boutique on U Street in DC. It’s an adorable BRIGHT ORANGE chair! We love it so much. And it looks great among all of the muted colors in the room.

I am getting ready for some Christmas decorating and around our house, it’s all about the bright, jewel toned, shiny, slightly offensive to the eye, pieces. The brighter the better! The more sparkle the more festive! If you have to squint when you see my blazing white tree with turquoise, hot pink, hunter orange, and shiny-shiny green ornaments, I have achieved success!
