This week’s giveaway sponsor practically needs no introduction. It’s Valspar Paint (which Meredith successfully figured out last week from our anagram clue). But Valspar isn’t just offering up paint this week, they’ve also created a great online resource for couples faced with the challenge of combining their styles. The “Love, Our Style” site includes some painting tips via a Painting 101 section, a photo contest where you can win a paint makeover, and – our favorite part – a quiz to help figure out how to merge your aesthetic with your partner’s.
And although Sherry and I feel like we’ve figured out our combined style pretty well, we jumped at the chance to see how we fared with the quiz. After 10 simple (and sometimes thought-provoking) multiple choice questions, the quiz revealed that our style is “Relaxed” which came with this description: “You’re in perfect harmony when it comes to your eye for the simple yet functional. When it comes to your home decor, eco-conscious style- like natural textures, tones and sustainable furnishings- can play a big part. Take your love of the outdoors and find inspiration in nature, with warm neutrals.” Pretty dead on, eh? Not to mention that the paint colors they suggested are pretty much right up our alley too.
So here’s the scoop on how you can score some free Valspar paint this week:

I tried to take the quiz but didn’t have the appropriate flash version. Then I tried to install the correct one, and had administrative issues??? (I am at work, and I guess should not be installing random flash software on my computer! ooops!)

Yep, I’m the modern one and he’s the one who gets ‘pushed’ into it. Then again I’m guilty of picking all the things I like and he chooses from those things (case and point, I showed him my top three choices for a new sofa and he chose his favorite of those three..)…it works for us :)
It rarely occurs that he doesn’t like any of his given options, so we have a modern and comfortable home that we both adore!

Our answer was Relaxed Country. We bought and moved into our first home in April – with every room painted white! Now, 5 months later, I only have a hallway and the master bedroom/bathroom to paint. A free gallon of paint would come in handy! Then, onto the unfinished basement ready for a full bathroom, office and family room!

Style compromise! You both love bold colors, so that won’t be an issue. But come together on furnishings. One of you loves more traditional pieces, while the other likes to make more of an adventurous statement. It’s not hard to be sophisticated and interesting, so mix it up! Choose clean lines accented with patterns.
