Fab Freebie: City Love

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

This week’s TWO lucky winners are… Maria G (who loves Kansas City despite being under 12-15″ of snow at the moment) and Fiona (who loves her hometown of Washington DC so much she even loves the traffic). Congrats you two!

Today marks the seven year anniversary of our move to Richmond, VA. Woo hoo! It’s crazy to think that it has been that long, and to celebrate this week’s giveaway is from a city-minded artist: Kimberly of Albie Designs. We’ve had her charming illustration of New York City hanging in our hallway o’ frames for as long as there has been a frame collection there (my sister bought it for Sherry for her birthday a few years back). And now Kimberly has released a Richmond city print. So whether you want her new RVA work of art, or others from around the country (and even the globe) you’ll get your pick thanks to the $100 gift card that she’s offering up to two lucky winners.

Albie Designs Giveaway

  • PRIZE: An $100 gift card to Albie Designs on Etsy
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I LOVE [INSERT CITY NAME HERE]” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … why you love it so much. Is it a city you’re just thrilled to live in? Is a place that always makes you happy to visit? Or maybe it’s a city that you’ve never been to, but fantasize about visiting?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Huzzah! This giveaway is available worldwide.
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Albie Designs.

    I love Chicago!!

I lived there for a year in 2007-2008 and met my husband there. Aside from that fun fact, I also love it for its architecture, its people, its attractions, and its pizza.

A suburb of Detroit is where my husband and I grew up so that is our “home.” But, we spent a few years in the UK and any city/village in Wales is amazing!!

    I LOVE LOS ANGELES!

I think it often gets an undeserved bad rap. The film industry and reality TV shows make the city seem superficial. The superficiality is here, but there is a lot of diversity that gets overlooked and everyday people living regular lives. What can I say – I like to root for the misinterpreted underdog. (Though don’t tell LA, I have a secret crush on AUSTIN, TX!)

I LOVE PORTLAND, OREGON! This is the city I was born and raised in until I turn 24 1/2. I love the green. I love the mountains. I love the hikes and waterfalls. I love the summertime there. I love that I still call it home because my family lives there. I love that it is a place where I want to come back to after my husband is done with graduate school. There is nothing better waking up early, seeing the sunrise behind the mountain and watching the sun glow down on the mountain. Beautiful!

I love Barcelona, Spain! I visited there while I was in college and it is by far my most favorite city. I loved it because you will never know what you will see around every corner. While on a walk i saw a group of random people dancing to a street performer, a guy singing opera, a flea market, a kid peeing behind a car, a hidden church or many many number of random things. But no matter how random, they are all so Barcelona. I also am a big lover of Antoni Gaudi. His stuff is just freakin’ legit. The Sangrada Familia is is by far one of the coolest places i have ever been. I love that city!

I LOVE DC! The DC metro area was my home for more than 18 years, and I have missed it every day since I moved to Orlando in 2011 for work-related reasons. I love the museums, the museum shops, the culture, the history, the monuments, the Metro, the free concerts, the Arboretum, the weather, the seasons, the garden centers, my friends, my hairdresser, my veterinarian… When I lived there, I felt like I was living in the capital of the world.
