Fab Freebie: Christmas Lights

This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!

As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

    LAMP ME!

    I love white lights, but I remember wishing so much that my Mom would put colored lights on our tree when I was a kid (she liked white lights of course). So now that I have a kiddo, the main tree will be white lights, but we’ll eventually do a second fun tree with lots of colored lights :)

    LAMP ME!! I love the simplicity and elegance of white lights–but with kids there has to be color. So, there is a tree for them and a tree for me.

    Lamp Me – I love it when all the lights in the house are turned off and only the candles on the fireplace and the small white lights of the tree provide a soft glow. Mesmerizing. :-)

    LAMP ME!

    It’s funny that this is the freebie this week. I love all holiday lights but I’m going to have to say it’s the glow of a fireplace…and in my case an electric fireplace since I’ve been on the hunt for one on CL for weeks! (We have an old house that does not have a chimney so we’re getting it the best way we can).

    If I had a fireplace, it would definitely be a roaring fire… but, I do also love a snow covered bush sparkling in multi-colored lights at night. :)

    I love the white Christmas lights, but also the fireplace. The white lights are just so lovely. This year I seem to hav a lot of silvery/blue ornaments, but my tree topper is a flamingo.

    LAMP ME!
    I have 2 favorites; the old fashioned colored ceramic light bulbs, either on a tree or outside, and these porcelain votive holders that have snowflakes and small dots on them so when you put a tealight in them, they give off such a cool pattern/soft glow.

    I love our current lighting set-up: white lights nestled in green garland along the bottom of the windows, with the red candle 3-light standing behind. Simply beautiful!

    LAMP ME!

    I love all the holiday lights, but, my most favorite are the bright LED colored lights lining the roofs and edges on houses. I think it makes them look like a gingerbread house.

    Lately I’ve become a fan of those fiber optic decorations and ceramic Christmas trees. They glow year after year without crapping out on me like twinkle lights seem to do :)

    I love a fire in the fireplace on a cold day. It’s so cozy!!

    Christmas decorating-wise, I prefer white lights to colored light. I like our orniments to show and the white lights give off such a pretty glow.

    LAMP ME! Love our old, over-sized Christmas tree lights. They are probably a fire hazard but they look so pretty! :)
