This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!
As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

I’m a fan of the traditional white lights on the outside.. but I like to be different inside and put blue lights on the tree!

LAMP ME! My favorite lights are candlelight, completely sets the mode. Close second are the white lights on a Christmas tree. My husband and I don’t buy each other presents, but insist on getting a tree for the lights and ambiance.

LAMP ME! My favorite holiday lights are the people who go over the top – lights on all surfaces of the house and huge blow ups in the yard. Of course, at home, the only lights we have are the colorful lights on our tree…so I guess that makes me kind of a Scrooge, since I expect other people to provide my holiday entertainment and don’t give them any!

I love the small white LED lights…I keep them up all year round as lighting in some parts of the apartment! Although they have kind of lost their christmas feel from keeping them up all year…so the colored lights definitely feel more christmassy…

I love the great big, outdoor, color bulbs. My grandmother had 2 huge hemlock trees at the end of her drive, tucked around the back. She was into traditional Christmas decor but had these 2 trees decked out in those big, old, colorful bulbs just for us kids. We spent every Christmas Eve at her house and I remember pulling in the drive, smell of snow, and excitement of Christmas, and seeing those lights. Happiness.

I love the oven light during the holidays as my girlfriend and Mother bake tons of Christmas cookies. My favorite lights are the big ceramic multicolored ones. They’re called C9’s and I know that cause we bought a bunch of them for the roofline of the house this year. They’re so midcentury and look cool on our midcentury ranch! I also love warm white lights on a tree.
