This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!
As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

I’m a candle person and love the soft flickering light. I mix them in with everything. I do cheat with little fake LED versions hiding in our layers of mantel decoration so it glows.

I love simple white christmas lights. If they are strung along the edge of the roof, I love the look when they are all perfectly straight and in line. Gorgeous!

LAMP ME! I’ve recently fallen in love with the plain white-bulb Christmas tree look. I bought a little fake tree that is pre-lit with plain white lights. I have failed to decorate it yet (still!) but I LOVE how pretty, classy, and down-right cute it looks with its cheerful white glow in my living room.

Lamp me! I have always loved plain old “white lights” – the ones that look yellow (not the new fangled LED ones!). But this year my oldest is 3, and she is bonkers for the house down the street with EVERY INCH of the roof covered in multicolored lights (the ones that include purple lights – that’s a big deal). Her joy is so contagious. Finding a new over-the-top house to drive her by is my NEW favorite!

The natural flickering and glow from a wood burning fireplace and wax candles are my favorite ever. But we’ve gotten used to a gas fireplace for ease – and don’t have candles out with small grandchildren around. I enjoy white lights on a tree and large colored lights outside. Illuminate!

I love the sparkle of our Labs “lighted” collar. I’m 84.3% sure its not recommended to put x-mas lights on your dogs collar but it makes for some good pictures!

I love the memories of stringing the old glass bulbs on the house with my father (I am sure I was way too young to be on the roof near all of those glass bulbs…LOL!) now he skips the lights and uses all of those giant tacky blow-ups and I use a more traditional white lights.
