As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

I love all lights during Christmas time! The fireplace… the christmas tree lights. One year I put up white lights in my kitchen one year and never took them down. I loved plugging them in in the morning and having the soft, Cafe-like, glow. It definitely helped have the soft light to wake up with.

LAMP ME … I used to only like the white lights on the tree, but the hubby convinced me to switch to color and we use LED, rather large ones, and they are so cool, especially for the kids. We also picked up one of those moravian stars you have and put that outside down by the road (we have a long driveway), and I think that really pops. I always, always love tons of light, and the soft yellow ones, outside decorating peoples yards.

We live in a historic district and I love the candles people put in the windows of the old Colonial and Georgian homes.
BTW, in one of your recent posts about what to look past when buying a house, I laughed out loud when I saw the light fixture in the dining room. I currently have the exact same hideous gold fixture in MY dining room. And I can’t wait to get rid of it! :)

Can’t beat a real fireplace for sure. Also I loved being nearsighted as a kid (NOT!) but at Christmas time it was great. I’d take off my glasses & gaze for hours at the fuzzy halos of lights on the tree…. GORGEOUS!
