Fab Freebie: Christmas Lights

This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!

As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

    Lamp Me!

    I’ve always been a sucker for the all-white lights on a tree. Every night before we turn in for bed the whole family stands in a dark room and says ‘goodnight tree!’ before we turn it off.

    Lamp Me!! I also like the classy looking white lit Christmas tree. Outdoors I like a mix of both white lights with some colorful lights too. Like a ginger bread house.

    My favorite lights during the holiday is from my Christmas tree. I love the warm glow at night when it’s the only lights on in the room.

    LAMP ME! I love the basic small white lights and we’ve been known to leave them up around the house to brighten a dark winter.

    Lamp Me!!! I absolutely love Christmas lights! We found an awesome display at a law firm in Kansas City this year. The lights are set to music. We parked across the street and got our 8 month old out of his car seat so he could see the lights. It was lovely!

    LAMP ME! I will mostly enjoy the vacation, time with family and warm weather ( believe it or not!) this Christmas. But who would say no to a nice surprise from Santa (courtesy of lamps plus)

    LAMP ME! I “used” to be a southern girl (white lights and glitter), but when I got married a year and a half ago and moved way up North I have kinda been gradually changing into a Northern woman (liking colored lights and cute homemade ornaments). But I still feel torn between the two. So I say I like a little of both but never mixed ok, cause I do still have a sense of style. Sort of ;)

    Lamp Me! I have to admit, I am a sucker for lighting. Period. I love the twinkle lights, candle light, firelight, nightlights….It can just create such a great mood, look, enhance both people and the surroundings.

    Lamp me, please! I have “my” tree (all white lights and antique ornaments) and “their” tree (color lights and kids ornaments). LOVE both of them for different reasons. This year we are thinking about hitting the after sales to get blue string lights to make a penguin sledding scene on our front hill next year!

    I love Christmas tress, candles, and lights on the mantle. Uber romantic. Although right now I am dying for an industrial chic floor lamp in my reading nook.

    LAMP ME! I have two kids under four right now and they love going to go look at all the lights at night, so I would have to say that is by far my favorite part.

    LAMP ME! We have the little white lights on our tree, spiraled up our stairs in greenery & over our bar. We shut off all the lights every night and just sit in the glow of all our little white lights!

    It’s not “which” light I love, it’s that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE ALL the lights! NOTHING beats driving around the neighborhood looking at every strand of lights, white or colored, every candle in every window, and all the icicle lights hanging on people’s homes. We usually pick up some hot chocolate and drive around for a couple of hours…
