Fab Freebie: Christmas Lights

This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!

As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

    LAMP ME!

    I would normally say the twinkly white lights…but this year my daughter, Everly, gets so excited when she sees lots of colorful lights on our neighbors houses. So, I will go with that – lots of colorful outdoor christmas lights!

    I was sitting in the living room just last night admiring our tree topper – it is a glittery, wiry star and my hubs stuck the white lights into it and it was just so pretty and glowy!

    LAMP ME! I love the tree lit with almost too many colored lights. It brings me back to my childhood and I love to share it with my daughter and husband.

    I’m loving the light behind my holiday row houses – textile art I’ve made with a zig zag row of houses, I cut out windows and doors, run a line of white twinkle lights behind them, and they glow so prettily at nighttime!

    What a fabulous giveaway! Lamp Me Please!! We usually have 2 trees. An all white light tree in the living room and a colored light tree in the kit/dining room. I’ve started really enjoying the multi light tree the last couple of years. It’s so vintage Christmasy.

    LAMP ME! While in my own house, I love having just our xmas tree lights on with the fire going, so warm and cozy. BUT, I do get a special thrill driving through neighborhoods that have every surface of their houses covered with lights!

    I LOVE the terrible tacky lights. I never have had an house of my own until now to have them. We don’t have the amps to do it up good, but we’ve put up some terrible lights outside on a time, so that will do for now.

    LAMP ME! I love the victorian style houses where people put a single candle in each window. It just catches my imagination for some reason, and makes me think of what a Christmas years ago would have been like.

    I love stands and strands of multi-colored Christmas lights. I’d string them everywhere if I could. And I about floated away from happiness when I discovered those nets of colored lights for bushes outside. I especially love them under a couple inches of snow. So pretty!

    Lamp me!
    My favorite Christmas lights were these awesome “Twinkle Lights”. I used to have 3 strands of them that I added to the regular white lights on the tree. They were a dimmer white light with a 3 tiered star on each. They would randomly blink over each set so only about 5 or 6 would blink at a time for different amounts of time. Just awesome! They eventually died and I have never been able to find replacements. My tree is just kind of sad without them. :(
