Fab Freebie: Christmas Lights

This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!

As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

    I love the warm simplicity of white lights- but the classic yellow-white lights, not the new blue-white LED lights. :o)

    I love the glow of the Christmas tree. We use all white lights on ours and it’s so pretty at night. Plus, it’s in our front window, so it’s even pretty from the street!

    White twinkle lights all the way! There is nothing better than an all white and gold tree with sparkling white lights set to the backdrop of freshly fallen snow outside!

    There’s nothing I love more this year that the glow of our Christmas tree. Each time my 11 mo son sees it, he smiles and starts giggling with excitement. There’s nothing better!

    My favorite is the glow a cd/radio (old school I know) playing Christmas songs combined with a fire, christmas tree lights, and candles as you just chill and play games, chat, whatever….

    LAMP ME! I LOVE all Christmas lights. But the other night walking through my neighbourhood – the cutest little bungalow had pink lights around the house, white lights around the door, and giant silver bulbs hanging from the overhang. Loved it.

    Lamp me! My favorite christmas lights are the outdoor icicle lights. I saw some this year where the lights move so that it looks like they are dripping icicles. LOVE.

    LAMP ME please!

    I’m a big fan of Zoolights at the National Zoo in DC.
    My favorite displays are the purple & white globes, the snowflakes in the trees, the trees covered in a mix of white & multicolored lights, & the moving white “streamer” lights by the Ape House.

    If you haven’t been yet with Clara, I highly recommend you driving up to go- it’s every night through New Year’s Day except Christmas Eve, Christmas, & New Year’s Eve. Since you’re such an animal friendly family it seems like it would be a big hit with the Petersiks! Plus there’s the brand new Conservation Carousel, train rides, tubing, & a lego version of the Smithsonian Castle-
