Fab Freebie: Christmas Lights

This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!

As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

    I love the old large outdoor lights? We use to have blue ones on the house when I was a kid and I thought they were so beautiful!

    I love the white fairy lights that pop up in trees along city streets. It reminds me of summer and the lightning bugs!

    LAMP ME!
    This is going to sound really retro but I love the aluminum Christmas tree my grandmother had. It came with a spinning disc light with transparent colored panels so that when the disc was spinning, the light it projected onto the tree made the tree change colors. I could watch that thing for hours. It was mesmerizing.

    LAMP ME! Since it gets dark at 4:00 where I live, I love the sparkle of outside Christmas lights. I’m partial to the trees wrapped in sheets of lights and the old school multi-colored large bulbs.

    I love driving down my street on the way home from work and seeing the festive lights on everyone’s houses. It’s a pretty modest neighborhood with modest christmas lights, but I like it that way.

    I added a set of glimmer lights to the center of the tree this year and I love it! Especially when all of the lights are off =)

    Favorite holiday lights- driving or walking through a neighborhood where EVERYONE decorates their houses over the top. So fun.

    I love Christmas lights! I wish I could have them up all year…oh and candles. There’s nothing more relaxing than turning off all the lights and just lighting candles around the house.

    LAMP ME! My favorite is the simple single candle light in the window. Something about how peaceful it looks from outside when a house has them in every window! Reminds me of the reason for the season!

    LAMP ME! I love the glow of the Christmas Tree, sometimes I think I would love to move my bed into the living room so I could enjoy it at night (or would it just be easier to put a tree in my room?!?)

    LAMP ME! I have seen a new twist on the traditional icicle lights that hang along the roof line. They now come in a “melting” variety that makes the lights appear to drip from the house!

    The big, multicolored outdoor bulbs remind me of when I was little, when my dad put them up along the outside of our old house.
