Fab Freebie: Christmas Lights

This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!

As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

    LAMP ME!! Growing up we lived on a mountain in the woods with no neighbors so instead of decorating the outside of the house, we decorated the inside with lights! We’d string lights around the ceiling of our living room and on the tree – it was my favorite part of decoraing! I’m trying to talk my Husband into creating this tradition for our 11-mo old daughter :)

    We decorate all in blue (our favorite color) for Christmas and the blue-lit Christmas tree casts a magical glow over the whole living room.

    LAMP ME! My favorite kind of light is hygge: the Danish concept of relaxing by candlelight with loved ones, often accompanied by good food and good drink.

    My favorite Christmas lights are new candles and even the imitation candle light…soft dimmable lamps aglow around the room.

    I love any and all Christmas lights. I like to hop in the car with my husband (and our shih tzu, Jersey!) to drive around town and look at all the homes lit up.

    LAMP ME! I absolutely love white lights. As many as possible. And my 1 year old seems to be catching the fever too…we will just sit and stare at the Christmas tree. Okay, while I hold her hands down :) she loves the ornaments too.

    I love to see candles lighting up all the windows in a house. My mom always put them out and they made the house look so warm and cozy during the holidays.
