Fab Freebie: Christmas Lights

This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!

As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

    LAMP ME! i actually like the houses covered in crazy colored lights, but just to look at, not for my own house (plus we’re jewish, so it doesnt matter :))

    My favorite lighting during Christmas is my tree. I use a combination of turquoise and white lights…so pretty!

    LAMP ME! If my husband would let me, I’d totally recreate the look from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation–every inch of my home would be covered in white outdoor lights. Because, duh, my house is awesome…and yes, it SHOULD be visible from space!

    LAMP ME! This year we converted to LED warm white lights. They encompass the traditional white glow… while being green!

    My favorite holiday light is the Christmas tree. I love that I can light some candles, turn on the tree and just snuggle in with some cocoa for a little relaxation around the holidays.

    We love the old fashioned white lights — the big bulbs that are spaced a little further apart. Aahh, pretty :)

    I love the light of a Christmas tree! We have a timer on ours so it turns on just before we wake up in the morning. It’s fabulous to drink coffee first thing next to a pretty tree :)

    I’m seeing Christmas trees this year with big bulb lights mixed in with small lights. I really like that look!

    Lamp me!

    I’m a basic white twinkle light kind of person (ideally, warm white LEDs). We never end up shopping for them before December 16–and that was record early, it’s usually December 24. By that point, there are only a few random strings of lights left in the stores, which explains how I usually end up decking the tree in icicle lights. I’ve gotten so used to that that I’m no longer sure how to put up the regular ones!

    I love the traditional, large bulbs in colors… But I also am a fan of the low energy LED lights, which are on our home now.

    I love driving by houses that are all decked, one of them includes my parents house, dubbed the “Griswold’s” of the neighborhood.

    I love traditional white lights and votives winding up a staircase…or at least I loved the votive part pre-toddler. Now we’ll just settle for white lights.
