As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

My favorite type of Christmas lighting is white lights embedded way back in the tree so it looks like it is glowing from the inside out as well as an inviting, warm fireplace (the next house will have a fireplace for sure)!

there is a house here in town with lights that change colors and pattern. It is actually on a pattern but the loop is so long, it just looks completely random whenever you drive past. Our three year old LOVES it and I think it’s pretty neat too. I wish I knew where they got them!

I love the colorful lights on our Christmas tree the first night after decorating it. The best part is taking our glasses off to see the lights really glow. Think fuzzy halos that the street lights make in the fog. It’s magical! It’s also the one time every year where I feel super lucky to have terrible eyesight.

Indoors: I love the soft slow twinkle of my warm white lights on my Christmas tree! If I had a fireplace, I would love the flames too!
Outdoors: I’ve always loved the classy white lights that outlines the houses, with candles in each window! But the multi-colored lights are slowly growing on me!
