Fab Freebie: Be Jeweled

***This giveaway has reached is now closed – see who won below!***

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! And an especially happy one to our randomly selected, lucky winner who goes by the name of… Oona (who will likely celebrate tonight with dinner at “a lovely vegan restaurant”). Congrats Oona!

We love celebrating Valentine’s Day with you guys by giving away some free jewelry, and this year Sherry’s especially stoked because the prize is coming from none other than Kendra Scott – one of her favorite places to request that I buy her earrings for various occasions (like the past two Christmases). Kendra Scott has definitely earned me a few husband points, so this (are you ready for it?) $500 gift card means that someone else out there can score major points from the one they love – or one lucky winner can grab her own jewels for herself. And probably have money leftover to share the wealth with a few friends or relatives. Oh and if you fancy yourself a Kendra Scott in the making, you can even use their Color Bar to customize several of their pieces. So yeah, Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

Kendra Scott Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A $500 gift card toward Kendra Scott
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “JEWEL ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …how you plan to celebrate (or not celebrate) Valentine’s Day this year. Is there a special date night in your future? Are you sending your kids off with backpacks filled with cards for classmates? Or are you just gonna treat it like any other Thursday?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, February 13th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway ships worldwide. Woot!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Jewel Me, Jewel Me, Jewel Me! (If I tap my heels now, will I win??).

I typically do a 14-days of Valentine’s for my husband. But this year has been a little hard on our relationship. Right after we celebrated our first wedding anniversary (in September), I found out I was pregnant (early October), then lost the baby (late November) then had surgery to fix some problems (December). January was a month of just…stress and therapy for both of us. We were questioning our relationship, life, and just…. trying to get through a rough spot when both of us were emotionally raw.

So our normal valentine’s day routine? Seemed so far away. Instead, we have late (9 p.m.) dinner reservations at a small local place in town (the kind of place you always say: “Oh! We should go there!” and then inevitably move from that town years later, never having gone there). We’re trying to do more things close to home and spend time together for together’s sake.

We still very much love one another. It’s hard dealing with loss though, and the depression that follows. But Vday is a day we can celebrate our love…in a time when we just get lost in all the other icky stuff. So we need to still celebrate!

And of course..the fun jewelry? Would ensure that the friends who answer my texts at 1 in the morning, who have provided support and love in the past five months… would get a fun treat as a thank you from me… :)

(Was that too long and depressing? ;p)

JEWEL ME! My husband and I are going out to dinner on Saturday 2/16 to celebrate V Day and my birthday, which are only 6 days apart. It’s nothing too fancy – my favorite meal at this place is a grilled cheese with tomato soup and fries, followed by a big piece of red velvet cake. Yum!

We don’t do much for Valentines. My husband usually brings home grocery store daisies and we cook something a little special for dinner. This year we decided no gifts, and we’re going out for a nice dinner and maybe a movie over the weekend.

My boyfriend and I are going out to dinner at a nice Italian restaurant. This is our third year going to the same place, and it’s fun to have a tradition. I’m also baking him heart shaped shortbread cookies with one side dipped in chocolate because it’s nice to be cheesy sometimes.
