Hubby is busy working late during busy season this time of the year…so since he probably won’t be home till after 10 on Valentine’s day itself, we have dinner plans the next day at a restaurant. We are pretty low key about the holiday.

My boyfriend of 9 years and I will be celebrating with our annual tradition – he cooks a surprise dinner and I cook a surprise dessert, then we have Valentines day cocktails while watching a sappy movie of my choice (the one day a year when he will sit down and watch with me!). This year will be even more special as it will be our first Valentines day in our own home!

We have an almost-one year old and he made some Valentines for Grandmas and Grandpas with a little craft project. I cut up some paper hearts and put them in a ziplock bag and red and white paint. He squashed it, crawled on it and climbed all over it. After some extraction, the hearts are drying and I’ll write up some “Be mine Valentine” and send them off tonight!

“Jewel Me” I’ll be sending my kindergartener to school with a backpack full of valentines. The older kids are also offering the opportunity to buy candy and have it sent to he younger kids so I’ll be surprising the whole class with this. Instead of going to dinner, our family is going to save the money and go skiing over February break :) Happy Valentines Day!
