Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! And an especially happy one to our randomly selected, lucky winner who goes by the name of… Oona (who will likely celebrate tonight with dinner at “a lovely vegan restaurant”). Congrats Oona!

Kendra Scott has definitely earned me a few husband points, so this (are you ready for it?) $500 gift card means that someone else out there can score major points from the one they love – or one lucky winner can grab her own jewels for herself. And probably have money leftover to share the wealth with a few friends or relatives. Jewel me! I love my husband and hate holidays, so we will probably celebrate it with our little boy sometime during the weekend or any other day but Feb 14. We learned our lesson the hard way when early in our relationship we made reservations at a restaurant and still had to wait over an hour.

Our little baby girl (9 months old) will be having surgery at the St Louis Children’s Hospital on 2/13/13. She has Unicoronal Craniosynostosis, which basically means one of the seams in her skull has fused early. She’ll be getting all fixed up and spending several days recouperating and getting all better up there, so we’ll be spending our 13th and her 1st Valentine’s Day getting all better. She’ll be swollen and hooked up to many machines, so no cute shirts, dresses or headbands for her. Instead I had a custom made Red Chevron and white minky bib made for her that has “Little Valentine” embroidered on it. :)

I’m single now, and it’s the first year since the divorce (4 years ago) that I don’t feel blue about Valentine’s Day. I plan on making myself a nice meal (rarely happens for 1), maybe buy some flowers, get some tasty treats for my 4-legged (2 cats and a dog) and call my best friends to tell them how much they mean to me!
