Fab Freebie: (Anything But) A White Christmas

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We often daydream about having the iconic white Christmas here in Virginia (which is extremely rare in these parts) but after this weekend’s crazy snowstorm it looks like we might actually have one. Or at least a whatever-color-you-call-half-melted-dirty-snow-that-hangs-around-for-a-week Christmas.

Glidden Snowy House

But as of today we think you’ll be dreaming of a holiday with a bit more color thanks to Glidden. So yes, as Sunny, Lacey, Travis and Nicole guessed at the end of last week’s giveaway, this week’s prize of “one of our all time favorite items” is indeed paint. In fact, Glidden’s got a gallon for a handful of you in your choice of color and finish so there’s plenty to go around.

Glidden Display

And if we haven’t already made it abundantly clear in over two years of blogging: we love Glidden’s colors. From Gentle Tide in our bedroom and kitchen to Sand White in our living room and guest bedroom, we’ve got Glidden’s fantastic hues on almost every wall of our house. And even though we’re sad that some of those colors didn’t make the cut when Glidden revamped their line earlier this year, we totally dig how user-friendly the new lineup of colors are (they even suggest complementary accent hues on the back of each paint swatch). Plus you can easily browse inspiration rooms and coordinating color schemes both in-store and on their web site and they offer tester bottles with built-in brushes for every color. It doesn’t get much more convenient that that.

Glidden Back Of Swatch

But enough jabbering. It’s time for the entry details:

  • PRIZE: Each winner will receive a voucher to be redeemed at their neighborhood Home Depot for one gallon of Glidden paint in any color and finish of their choice.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CAN ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us what colors are getting you into the holiday spirit this season. Is it the traditional red and green pairing? Unconventional schemes like lavender and silver? Or do you really just have your heart set on that white Christmas concept?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 23rd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: FIVE!
  • PRIZE SHIPS: United States only
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

We have a fairly modern (but homey) house so usually, at Christmas, I opt for traditional reds and greens (think cranberry garland, felt ornaments, etc…). However, this year, we’re in the middle of re-vamping our new home so there’s hardly a decoration to be seen. Since our new color scheme involves a lot of orange – I LOVE your citrus inspired tree. I’ll be doing some after-Christmas shopping to stock up on citrus-colored goodness for next year!!

We almost always go with the traditional scarlet red, hunter green, and sparkly gold, but this year we switched it up a bit. We are donning silver, gold and white. It is elegant but casual….and white lights are a must for us.

CAN ME! (this would come in so handy to paint either the nursery or our daughter’s room!)

This season, I was all about silver, gold and glass. BUT… then I pulled out all the ornaments and decor I bought on sale last year, and turns out we’re going with red, red and more red! I’m sure after stocking up on gold and silver this year, I’ll crave something completely opposite next year. Ah well.

I love lime greens and teals for Christmas…and silver, you can’t go wrong with silver. I live in Wisconsin, where our Christmas is always white and I love that the greens and blues work so well for the whole winter (and that I can be a little bit lazy pulling down the decorations after the big day).

Our dining room (Where our tree is housed) is kind of lime green/granny apple green with craftsmen walls painted a light creme. So we pair that with a nice bright shade of blue for our ornaments and napkin rings around the holidays. The shades have a pairing shade of blue to them and it all works surprisingly well. It’s not a color scheme you’d ever naturally go to for Christmas, but we’ve done it the last couple of Christmases and it works so nice together.

Most of our stuff is black gingham and burlap (neither of which is a “color” in and of itself, I guess). For a bit more of a festive feel, I’ve added some gold accents on the tree. We’re kind of boring, now that I read that back to myself . . .
