Fab Freebie: (Anything But) A White Christmas

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We often daydream about having the iconic white Christmas here in Virginia (which is extremely rare in these parts) but after this weekend’s crazy snowstorm it looks like we might actually have one. Or at least a whatever-color-you-call-half-melted-dirty-snow-that-hangs-around-for-a-week Christmas.

Glidden Snowy House

But as of today we think you’ll be dreaming of a holiday with a bit more color thanks to Glidden. So yes, as Sunny, Lacey, Travis and Nicole guessed at the end of last week’s giveaway, this week’s prize of “one of our all time favorite items” is indeed paint. In fact, Glidden’s got a gallon for a handful of you in your choice of color and finish so there’s plenty to go around.

Glidden Display

And if we haven’t already made it abundantly clear in over two years of blogging: we love Glidden’s colors. From Gentle Tide in our bedroom and kitchen to Sand White in our living room and guest bedroom, we’ve got Glidden’s fantastic hues on almost every wall of our house. And even though we’re sad that some of those colors didn’t make the cut when Glidden revamped their line earlier this year, we totally dig how user-friendly the new lineup of colors are (they even suggest complementary accent hues on the back of each paint swatch). Plus you can easily browse inspiration rooms and coordinating color schemes both in-store and on their web site and they offer tester bottles with built-in brushes for every color. It doesn’t get much more convenient that that.

Glidden Back Of Swatch

But enough jabbering. It’s time for the entry details:

  • PRIZE: Each winner will receive a voucher to be redeemed at their neighborhood Home Depot for one gallon of Glidden paint in any color and finish of their choice.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CAN ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us what colors are getting you into the holiday spirit this season. Is it the traditional red and green pairing? Unconventional schemes like lavender and silver? Or do you really just have your heart set on that white Christmas concept?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 23rd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: FIVE!
  • PRIZE SHIPS: United States only
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

CAN ME! I started out thinking we’d go all-white, but had a change of heart when I couldn’t make the ornaments I’d envisioned (not enough white paper selection at Archivers) so we’re having a red Christmas with accents of white, silver, and green. Pretty traditional… but also just plain pretty!

I do love the silver and lavendar combo. There’s something so elegant about it and it makes me think of a winter wonderland.

Since I’ve never seen snow – I know, shocking!, I’m so envious of your photo with your house covered in snow. How Christmasy!

Our living room is covered in gold, red and green. It’s my favorite! Our first Christmas was blue, silver and white, but I quickly changed my mind and the last few years have just been building on our new scheme.

I love the traditional deep red and green. But I think I’m going to look for some after-Christmas sale ribbon in bright green and teal and red polka dot to add a little fun to our “homemade ornament tree” – the tree that we decorate solely with ornaments that our little boys have made. It fills up more every year and it has become my favorite of our two Christmas trees!

I have the traditional red and green in places because I love Santas, and of course all of the things my kids have made through the years. Even though I’m transitioning to mostly white/silver/snowflake/heart theme, all of the ornaments I’ve bought them and all of the ones they’ve made still have to to on the tree. And they insist on multi-colored lights. Oh, and I made my daughter a mini-LSU tree this year, complete w/purple & gold lights.

Can me! We are all about the lime green and red with silver. My parents bought me sterling silver ornaments every year growing up, so I have a collection of sterling ornaments that go on the tree every year. Now that I have two kids of my own, I am thinking of restarting the tradition.

I’m loving red and white this year! We didn’t have $$ to buy ornaments for our giant real tree, but we are enjoying the ones we’ve collected over the years as a mish-mash of holiday styles and colors. The rest of our holiday decorating is red and white though :)

I’m using a lot of red and silver, but the big change this year is nothing ‘crafty’-
only shiny, sparkly ornaments. No sticks, pinecones or cotton balls.
& white lights on the tree.
