Fab Freebie: (Anything But) A White Christmas

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We often daydream about having the iconic white Christmas here in Virginia (which is extremely rare in these parts) but after this weekend’s crazy snowstorm it looks like we might actually have one. Or at least a whatever-color-you-call-half-melted-dirty-snow-that-hangs-around-for-a-week Christmas.

Glidden Snowy House

But as of today we think you’ll be dreaming of a holiday with a bit more color thanks to Glidden. So yes, as Sunny, Lacey, Travis and Nicole guessed at the end of last week’s giveaway, this week’s prize of “one of our all time favorite items” is indeed paint. In fact, Glidden’s got a gallon for a handful of you in your choice of color and finish so there’s plenty to go around.

Glidden Display

And if we haven’t already made it abundantly clear in over two years of blogging: we love Glidden’s colors. From Gentle Tide in our bedroom and kitchen to Sand White in our living room and guest bedroom, we’ve got Glidden’s fantastic hues on almost every wall of our house. And even though we’re sad that some of those colors didn’t make the cut when Glidden revamped their line earlier this year, we totally dig how user-friendly the new lineup of colors are (they even suggest complementary accent hues on the back of each paint swatch). Plus you can easily browse inspiration rooms and coordinating color schemes both in-store and on their web site and they offer tester bottles with built-in brushes for every color. It doesn’t get much more convenient that that.

Glidden Back Of Swatch

But enough jabbering. It’s time for the entry details:

  • PRIZE: Each winner will receive a voucher to be redeemed at their neighborhood Home Depot for one gallon of Glidden paint in any color and finish of their choice.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CAN ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us what colors are getting you into the holiday spirit this season. Is it the traditional red and green pairing? Unconventional schemes like lavender and silver? Or do you really just have your heart set on that white Christmas concept?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 23rd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: FIVE!
  • PRIZE SHIPS: United States only
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I’m loving teal and silver this year. Last year it was teal, green and gold. I was wondering if it was normal to buy and change your Christmas tree decor each year. :) Dee

I’m feeling the mossy green and homespun red for a sort of rustic look. I was really into Kirsten the American Girl doll when I was a kid and I loved the story of her Christmas celebrations. As lame as it sounds, my gift wrapping and decorating was sort of inspired and influenced by that book.

Along with choosing paint colors for the old house we just bought, we are picking our first real Christmas decorations too. We are going for a vintage-y red, green, and gold look.

I am definitely a traditionalist when it comes to Christmas! I also like rustic Christmas decor…last year all our presents were brown paper packages, tied up with strings. And we decorated the packages (ie. made our own nametags) with leftover Christmas cards from the year before.

My gift packaging this year – brown paper packages tied up with bright green ribbon. I’m all about that ‘natural’ sort of look but punched up a bit. But paint colors are a whole different story – I just painted the living room pink.

My husband and I decorated two different trees this year, so we have two different color schemes (three, if you count outside). Upstairs is silver and gold with a little bit of maroon (since we have maroon furniture), and downstairs is a multi-colored mis-mash of fun and ecclectic ornaments from our childhoods. Outside, our colors are blue and white.
