Fab Freebie: (Anything But) A White Christmas

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We often daydream about having the iconic white Christmas here in Virginia (which is extremely rare in these parts) but after this weekend’s crazy snowstorm it looks like we might actually have one. Or at least a whatever-color-you-call-half-melted-dirty-snow-that-hangs-around-for-a-week Christmas.

Glidden Snowy House

But as of today we think you’ll be dreaming of a holiday with a bit more color thanks to Glidden. So yes, as Sunny, Lacey, Travis and Nicole guessed at the end of last week’s giveaway, this week’s prize of “one of our all time favorite items” is indeed paint. In fact, Glidden’s got a gallon for a handful of you in your choice of color and finish so there’s plenty to go around.

Glidden Display

And if we haven’t already made it abundantly clear in over two years of blogging: we love Glidden’s colors. From Gentle Tide in our bedroom and kitchen to Sand White in our living room and guest bedroom, we’ve got Glidden’s fantastic hues on almost every wall of our house. And even though we’re sad that some of those colors didn’t make the cut when Glidden revamped their line earlier this year, we totally dig how user-friendly the new lineup of colors are (they even suggest complementary accent hues on the back of each paint swatch). Plus you can easily browse inspiration rooms and coordinating color schemes both in-store and on their web site and they offer tester bottles with built-in brushes for every color. It doesn’t get much more convenient that that.

Glidden Back Of Swatch

But enough jabbering. It’s time for the entry details:

  • PRIZE: Each winner will receive a voucher to be redeemed at their neighborhood Home Depot for one gallon of Glidden paint in any color and finish of their choice.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CAN ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us what colors are getting you into the holiday spirit this season. Is it the traditional red and green pairing? Unconventional schemes like lavender and silver? Or do you really just have your heart set on that white Christmas concept?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 23rd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: FIVE!
  • PRIZE SHIPS: United States only
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

Christmas colors this year have been icy blues with a variety of silvers and faded golds, with lots of natural greenery and punches of crimson. I’ve been very happy with it!

We went with our green tree and used frosted pearl lights, then added in hints of deep red – almost a maroon, and light green.

So traditional, but with twists – Red, white, green = Maroon, ivory, lime.

I am loving the SURPRISE it really did snow in Richmond for once snow! As a teacher, I’m hoping for another dose in a few weeks. :-)
In the meantime, I stuck on red with apple green and white. Seems a little funkier to me than the traditional evergreen with red.

CAN ME! We have different color schemes depending on the year. I have way too much Christmas decor for our small house due to After Christmas clearance sales so I alternate what I put out year to year. Last year we did a White Christmas tree with silver and black but this year our tree is random ornaments that mean something to us that we collected over the years with crazy multicolored lights. So not decorating magazine worthy lol!

I like silver for the holidays. A different accent color appeals to me each year. A few years ago it was blue, this year it’s red…but I really like your lavender suggestion!

My husband, mother, sister and I all prefer blues. So our houses are decorated with white, silver, and various shades of blue (I also add in a few shades of green). We live in Alabama so we virtually never have white Christmases (I have seen only one in my 27 years of life). Between the white and blue tones of our decor and the mirrors we use to decorate, we can almost pretend that we are having a white Christmas–that is until we step outside in the balmy 70 degree weather.

We do blue in our house because hubby is a police sgt. so family members buy up anything “cop” and we display it proudly :) You would be surprised how many cop ornaments there are!

My dream though is do a tree that matches our decor better. shhhh :)

We went with a red and light turquoise this year; it has a really cool, sort of vintage look, yet still feels like Christmas. In the past, I’ve done white and silver, and a natural organic, but it didn’t seem right in our new home, with all the dark paneling.

This is our first Christmas together, and we just combined his childhood ornaments with mine – it’s a really sweet, comfy-looking tree. Beautiful!

The new things I got were mostly black, grey and red with glittery gold accents. It sounds somber, but it’s really really pretty! (Also, I’m in DC so I know what you mean about the dirty week-old snow for Christmas!)

We have more of a hodgepodge of colors rather than a cohesive scheme, but I love it. My toddler has had a ball painting big sheets of butcher paper we are using for wrapping paper. All the bright colors make the holidays seem even more festive than usual.
