Fab Freebie: (Anything But) A White Christmas

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We often daydream about having the iconic white Christmas here in Virginia (which is extremely rare in these parts) but after this weekend’s crazy snowstorm it looks like we might actually have one. Or at least a whatever-color-you-call-half-melted-dirty-snow-that-hangs-around-for-a-week Christmas.

Glidden Snowy House

But as of today we think you’ll be dreaming of a holiday with a bit more color thanks to Glidden. So yes, as Sunny, Lacey, Travis and Nicole guessed at the end of last week’s giveaway, this week’s prize of “one of our all time favorite items” is indeed paint. In fact, Glidden’s got a gallon for a handful of you in your choice of color and finish so there’s plenty to go around.

Glidden Display

And if we haven’t already made it abundantly clear in over two years of blogging: we love Glidden’s colors. From Gentle Tide in our bedroom and kitchen to Sand White in our living room and guest bedroom, we’ve got Glidden’s fantastic hues on almost every wall of our house. And even though we’re sad that some of those colors didn’t make the cut when Glidden revamped their line earlier this year, we totally dig how user-friendly the new lineup of colors are (they even suggest complementary accent hues on the back of each paint swatch). Plus you can easily browse inspiration rooms and coordinating color schemes both in-store and on their web site and they offer tester bottles with built-in brushes for every color. It doesn’t get much more convenient that that.

Glidden Back Of Swatch

But enough jabbering. It’s time for the entry details:

  • PRIZE: Each winner will receive a voucher to be redeemed at their neighborhood Home Depot for one gallon of Glidden paint in any color and finish of their choice.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CAN ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us what colors are getting you into the holiday spirit this season. Is it the traditional red and green pairing? Unconventional schemes like lavender and silver? Or do you really just have your heart set on that white Christmas concept?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 23rd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: FIVE!
  • PRIZE SHIPS: United States only
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    Can Me!!!

I’m kind of digging the chartreuse green and red theme for my kitchen at the holidays. My living room decorations are always pink, lavender, and pearls because of the abundance of handmade ornaments I received from my grandmother.

CAN ME!!!!!! Would love, love, love a white Christmas, but sadly the recent east coast storm missed us :o( Lots of holiday color: tree is mostly red and gold, other little areas of blue/silver, blue/white, and burgandy/gold throughout the house.

I typically decorate with different red and green hues, with white mixed in. I splash all different colors on my tree and have tons of different types of ornaments because I collect those!

I do a few trees because I can’t decide on just ONE color combo, but this year, my favorite has been a white flocked tree with silver and white sparkly decorations and peacock silk ribbon winding in and out. It’s like a glam winter wonderland!!

    CAN ME!

We just bought our house last spring, so this was our first year to really start decorating the house, which I loved. We actually went for a chocolate brown/white/silver/gold scheme, with slight hints of red. Odd, I know. But I love it. While it doesn’t scream Christmas like red and green do, it’s so subtle, clean and peaceful that I think it really feels like Christmas. If that makes sense.

I have several different ‘sets’ of ornaments. This year I got out the pinks/purples/blues/bright greens and picked up papers in the same color. Not traditional but so fun for my 2 year old and 4 year old. (I’m pretty sure my neighbor that comes outside decked out in his Virginia Tech PJs has an all VT decorated tree and I’m jonsing to ask to see it… : )

    Merry Christmas!

In this uncertain economy, I’m a little hesitant to type the words “Can me!” but here goes…

    CAN ME!

I just finished painting my dining room (white below the chairrail, dark bluish-gray above: http://mcmania-ourlifeasweknowit.blogspot.com/2009/12/dining-room-redo.html) so now it’s on to the guest bathroom. My plan is to make it feel beachy since it’s an interior space without a window.

I asked my McHusband for a window for Xmas, but it was more than the budget would allow. Is it wrong of me to cross my fingers and hope for one of the gumball-dropping trees in the backyard to hit the house at just the right spot during a big storm?

We’ve got multiple rooms that need fresh paint…kitchen, living room, main bath, basement, remodeled basement bath…we could use this stuff!

We’ll have a White Christmas here in Nebraska, we’re expecting another 6-10″ on top of the yet-to-melt 12″ we got the first week of December. Ah, lovely!

But I digress, my Christmas colors getting me in the mood are those in the families of teal, hot pink, almost-lime-greens and oranges. These ornaments from Target really did it for me this year! (hope this link works):http://www.target.com/28-Ct-Glass-Ornament-Tub/dp/B002BIORS0/ref=sr_1_61?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=0&searchView=grid5&node=1038576&keywords=christmas%20ornaments&field_browse=1038576&searchSize=90&id=28%20Ct%20Glass%20Ornament%20Tub&field_availability=-2&searchBinNameList=subjectbin%2Ctarget_com_age%2Ctarget_com_gender-bin%2Ctarget_com_character-bin%2Cprice%2Ctarget_com_primary_color-bin%2Ctarget_com_size-bin%2Ctarget_com_brand-bin&refinementHistory=price%2Csubjectbin%2Ctarget_com_age%2Ctarget_com_gender-bin%2Ctarget_com_character-bin%2Ctarget_com_primary_color-bin%2Ctarget_com_size-bin%2Ctarget_com_brand-bin&field_price=-2499&searchNodeID=1038576&field_launch-date=-1y&searchRank=price&searchPage=1&field_keywords=christmas%20ornaments

I love the traditional colors in our own house (probably because that’s all we have for now) but I think all of the more designer Christmas color schemes are just gorgeous… I’m just a little hesitant to try and pull something off like that (not to mention I’m overly anal about using what you have – probably why I love this blog, after all!).
