Fab Freebie: All Time Lowe’s

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

For our big two year blogiversary and we’re celebrating with one of the biggest freebies we’ve ever freebied: a $500 Lowe’s gift card.

Lowes 500 Gift Card

Did that sink in yet? It still hasn’t for us. When we started hunting for the perfect blogiversary prize a few weeks ago we never thought we’d land something so exciting. It’s like Lowe’s is giving one of you the chance to take on a big project and they’re footing the bill. And we couldn’t be more thrilled to be giving it away.

We probably don’t need to remind you of all the items you could snag during a $500 shopping blitz at Lowe’s – paint, lighting, power tools, holiday decor, flooring. Heck, you could even get a new dishwasher or something. So in case you’re having any trouble picturing where you’d put five hundred Lowe’s dollars, allow us to lend our expertise (that is, our money-spending assistance). Here are a few items that we’ve got our eyes on:

This Idylis air purifier: Since the cold weather will have us closing up our windows and doors soon, the HEPA filter on this baby keeps indoor air from getting stale and could really help Sherry as we get into allergy season.

Lowes Idylis Air Pure

A new lawn mower: I know the season’s ending, but I’ve had it up to here (picture my hand above my head) with the used mower we bought when we moved back in 2006 (let’s just say it’s no longer self-propelling). Lowe’s online Mower Selector tool helped turn up a bunch of options that we could snag for well under 500 beans.

Lowes Mower Guide

A cool bathroom sink: With a full bathroom redo moving closer to the top of our to-do list we’re already starting to fantasize about where we can add some special touches, like plopping a vessel sink on top of a thrifted piece of furniture-turned-vanity. And Lowe’s has a bunch of awesome vessel sink options.

Lowes Prize Sinks

I’ve also been contemplating adding some outdoor path lighting or taking our garage organization a step further with some more sophisticated shelving. But we’d better quit letting our minds wander because we’re not the ones who get the $500 gift card… one of you does! Here’s how:

  • PRIZE: A $500 Lowe’s gift card (in case you forgot)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “GIMME THAT $500” (why dance around it, right?) and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us what project you might spend the prize on. Surely we’re not the only ones daydreaming about where $500 could go (and no, we won’t be picking a winner based on this answer – it’ll still be random)
  • CONTEST CLOSES: Thursday, September 24th at 8pm EST (that’s an extra day!)
  • WINNER: One lucky lady or gent
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the USA (but Lowe’s loving Canadians with friends or family in the states can enter and we’ll send it to your US relative/friend who can forward it on to you).
  • THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

GIMME THAT $500! I’d love to have a new rug in our dining room – or a ton of Christmas decorations (it’s never to early for Christmas planning right?)

    Happy #2!

GIMME THAT $500… we need a new lawn mower, weed whacker, tree trimmer, etc. Basically, we have a yard and practically no tools to take care of it. We could give our house a serious personality boost with a simple yard manicure.

I could streeeetch that $500 with the best intentions! Wood for our own knockoff toy organizational system ala PBK, plywood to make a nice table over our front-loaders, some bamboo shades, new faucets for the bathrooms, some great organizing things….wow I could have FUN!

OR I could do the practical thing and just buy a new dishwasher, mine’s been on the fritz for the last year and with two small kids, I need help!!

Where to start. I just moved 3 hours away to live with my fiance in the dream house that we bought along with our 2 dogs, only we have alot of work to go to achieve that dream. The house needs new floors, severe paint reform, updated kitchen and little things here and there! $500 bucks would go a long way to start the work!

We’ve done a lot of home improvement in the past year but I think it’s never ending, and we haven’t really done a lot of “over the top” things- like a new sink or new lighting in the kitchen. We pretty much improved what we had to stay within budget. It would be nice to splurge on something “extra”… fixtures, lights, new window blinds…. the list goes on and on and on….

We badly, BADLY need new flooring in our kitchen/dining/entry. We bought our home from my husband’s parents (wince), and have been *trying* to make it our own for the last 4 yrs now. The flooring in the above areas is ancient – it’s linoleum, squares w/ yellow and brownish flowers, and it’s time for it to go. It’s cracking, coming up from the floor when we move furniture, and it’s UGLY! We’d be using the $500 to go toward the new stuff we’ve picked out – and waddaya know, we found it at Lowe’s!!
It was meant to be, I’m tellin’ ya. ;)

Holy comments, batman. Thank God you fixed that whole “breaking” the comments blurb thing a while back ;)

Well, considering I always have 14 million projects to tackle on my to-do list, this $500 could go towards removing the horrid 80s fluorescent light box in the downstairs bath, putting in a new fixture, redoing the countertop and also putting in a new vanity mirror. Should be doable on $500 :D. Maybe. Hehe.

We are newlyweds and could use that money for a number of things. Off the top of my head, I have a few ideas…

    – a new fridge to match the new stove we received as a generous gift
    – paint to spruce the ol’ apartment up
    – flowers for the upcoming season
    – a fire pit for our friends to enjoy with us

I’m sure my husband could come up with a few more reasons :)

I just purchased my first home this summer. It is definately a fixer-upper but I have been very limited on what I can accomplish due to a very fixed income. I wouldn’t even know where to start with $500. Maybe a new roof, or bathroom….
