For our big two year blogiversary and we’re celebrating with one of the biggest freebies we’ve ever freebied: a $500 Lowe’s gift card.

Did that sink in yet? It still hasn’t for us. When we started hunting for the perfect blogiversary prize a few weeks ago we never thought we’d land something so exciting. It’s like Lowe’s is giving one of you the chance to take on a big project and they’re footing the bill. And we couldn’t be more thrilled to be giving it away.

We probably don’t need to remind you of all the items you could snag during a $500 shopping blitz at Lowe’s – paint, lighting, power tools, holiday decor, flooring. Heck, you could even get a new dishwasher or something. So in case you’re having any trouble picturing where you’d put five hundred Lowe’s dollars, allow us to lend our expertise (that is, our money-spending assistance). Here are a few items that we’ve got our eyes on:

This Idylis air purifier: Since the cold weather will have us closing up our windows and doors soon, the HEPA filter on this baby keeps indoor air from getting stale and could really help Sherry as we get into allergy season.

A new lawn mower: I know the season’s ending, but I’ve had it up to here (picture my hand above my head) with the used mower we bought when we moved back in 2006 (let’s just say it’s no longer self-propelling). Lowe’s online Mower Selector tool helped turn up a bunch of options that we could snag for well under 500 beans.

A cool bathroom sink: With a full bathroom redo moving closer to the top of our to-do list we’re already starting to fantasize about where we can add some special touches, like plopping a vessel sink on top of a thrifted piece of furniture-turned-vanity. And Lowe’s has a bunch of awesome vessel sink options.

I’ve also been contemplating adding some outdoor path lighting or taking our garage organization a step further with some more sophisticated shelving. But we’d better quit letting our minds wander because we’re not the ones who get the $500 gift card… one of you does! Here’s how:

  • CONTEST CLOSES: Thursday, September 24th at 8pm EST (that’s an extra day!)
  • WINNER: One lucky lady or gent
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the USA (but Lowe’s loving Canadians with friends or family in the states can enter and we’ll send it to your US relative/friend who can forward it on to you).

    GIMME THAT $500.00 – – – pleeeease? Pretty please? I would love to use the gift card for some new carpet! I am re-vamping our guestroom; put hardwood floor in the closet with some custom shelving. A new coat of paint and new baseboards all around. The only thing I can’t do myself is the carpeting and boy, does it need to be replaced!!

    GIMMIE THAT $500!!!!
    We built our home seven years ago and have never finished the “mud room”. I painted the walls, but that was as far as I got! It needs flooring, a sink, shelving and a new door! Thank you:)

    Gimme that $500!! I would use the extra money to redo the HIDEOUS cabinets in our kitchen. I have to look away when I am cooking b/c they are so ugly!

    GIMME that $500!!!!! Moved in to our house preggo w/2nd baby. 18mths later I am finding time & energy to plan/ make things happen.. need painting here, backsplash there, garage organizing .. you name it!

    We’re in the middle of a remodel so I could spend it on anything! I would probably spend it on something I wasn’t planning on getting though- which would be an apron front kitchen sink!!

    Gimme that $500!! My boyfriend and I currently rent and are saving $$ so that we can have a large down payment on our first venture into home ownership. In the meantime, I am trying to make improvements to our apartment to make it feel homey, but things we can take with us. Think new area rugs, new floor lamps, other accessories and of course some paint!

    I would use this money to repaint the outside of my house with Valspar, as well as repair the old gutters that are hanging off our lovely house.

    GIMME THAT $500…we just moved into a new house, so there are a million things I could use the Lowe’s gift card for! This is the first time we have ever had a lawn, so we could definitely use it to revitalize our poor looking lawn and do some nice landscaping!

    We live in a total fixer upper that was rolling right along until the real estate market CRASHED?! Agh!! Being a Realtor, my income was our project money. As my income is now a THIRD of what it was 2 years ago… projects have ceased, even mid way through unfortunately.

    THis $500.00 would finish our basement wetbar project!! The corner now sits taped and mudded… but no money for the cabinets, sink, and fixtures. My kids would kiss you, as they would no longer have to be embaraased to have their friends over… ;)

    GIMMEE THAT $500 and help us jumpstart the kitchen renovation in our 1929 Craftsman home. It was remodeled in the early 80s and…ouch! Help us replace the laminate countertops, faux wood cabinets and stick-on tile floors we put in less than a year ago as a temporary fix (and are already cracking!)

    Glass tile, stone tile, any tile will do. Backsplash, kickplates, bathrooms, to boot. Seeking color and modern design in places where only builder blah exists.

For instance, my mother is currently transforming our garden into something beautiful and she would greatly benefit from it. So the gift card would go to MOMMy to use at her discretion!     Love your blog. Love my house. Love that you help me figure out how to give my house more love. A Lowes gift card would be an awesome way to help me give my house some needed paint on the builder white walls- sort of like the ultimate manicure.

    I need blinds on my front window, new paint in every room of the house, a grill for the patio, a dishwasher for the kitchen, oh….probably over the $500 limit there :) but every little bit helps!!

    I’d use it for Christmas!! I’m making presents again this year only I’m building things now sooo people that come over my house and see the stuff I work on get excited and want one-of-a-kind pieces like mine!

    GIMME THAT $500!!!

    My fiance and I will be getting married in 3 weeks(YIKES!). Right before the wedding we are moving into an older farm house and remodeling EVERYTHING about the place! We debated about just tearing down the house and starting fresh, but we think it will be so much more rewarding looking through before and after pictures! $500 to Lowes would be such a God-send!!
