Fab Freebie: All Time Lowe’s

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

For our big two year blogiversary and we’re celebrating with one of the biggest freebies we’ve ever freebied: a $500 Lowe’s gift card.

Lowes 500 Gift Card

Did that sink in yet? It still hasn’t for us. When we started hunting for the perfect blogiversary prize a few weeks ago we never thought we’d land something so exciting. It’s like Lowe’s is giving one of you the chance to take on a big project and they’re footing the bill. And we couldn’t be more thrilled to be giving it away.

We probably don’t need to remind you of all the items you could snag during a $500 shopping blitz at Lowe’s – paint, lighting, power tools, holiday decor, flooring. Heck, you could even get a new dishwasher or something. So in case you’re having any trouble picturing where you’d put five hundred Lowe’s dollars, allow us to lend our expertise (that is, our money-spending assistance). Here are a few items that we’ve got our eyes on:

This Idylis air purifier: Since the cold weather will have us closing up our windows and doors soon, the HEPA filter on this baby keeps indoor air from getting stale and could really help Sherry as we get into allergy season.

Lowes Idylis Air Pure

A new lawn mower: I know the season’s ending, but I’ve had it up to here (picture my hand above my head) with the used mower we bought when we moved back in 2006 (let’s just say it’s no longer self-propelling). Lowe’s online Mower Selector tool helped turn up a bunch of options that we could snag for well under 500 beans.

Lowes Mower Guide

A cool bathroom sink: With a full bathroom redo moving closer to the top of our to-do list we’re already starting to fantasize about where we can add some special touches, like plopping a vessel sink on top of a thrifted piece of furniture-turned-vanity. And Lowe’s has a bunch of awesome vessel sink options.

Lowes Prize Sinks

I’ve also been contemplating adding some outdoor path lighting or taking our garage organization a step further with some more sophisticated shelving. But we’d better quit letting our minds wander because we’re not the ones who get the $500 gift card… one of you does! Here’s how:

  • PRIZE: A $500 Lowe’s gift card (in case you forgot)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “GIMME THAT $500” (why dance around it, right?) and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us what project you might spend the prize on. Surely we’re not the only ones daydreaming about where $500 could go (and no, we won’t be picking a winner based on this answer – it’ll still be random)
  • CONTEST CLOSES: Thursday, September 24th at 8pm EST (that’s an extra day!)
  • WINNER: One lucky lady or gent
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the USA (but Lowe’s loving Canadians with friends or family in the states can enter and we’ll send it to your US relative/friend who can forward it on to you).
  • THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

Holy moly! GIMME THAT $500!! I’d like to work on refurbing my kitchen a little – beadboard around the lower half of the walls, paint, some shelving, and a new light fixture. Or… a new lawnmower would be nice – mine has never been self-propelled. There are just so many possibilities!

A new water heater! Ours is 13 years old and on its LAST DYING BREATH.

Whatever money left over from that would re-do our outdated kitchen.

GIMME THAT $500, I think I would use it toward a riding mower for my husband we have a huge yard and he’s been wanting one but has not been able to justify the price to himself. If not that I will use it on the doownstairs bathroom. I’ve made it presentable with some chocolate brown paint, some nice art, a white fabric shower curtain to cover the ugly utility shower, and a new toilet seat that doesn’t have potporri in it. But that floor is just plain awful.

Uh, we have a whole list of things that we could use that money for. I would love to use it towards new carpet or laminate flooring upstairs.

Both of my kids have allergies, so it might be nice to have that air purifier that was listed for Sherri.

    Thanks!

Funny that you mentioned dishwasher – we’ve finagled a way to squeeze one into our 56 sq foot kitchen, now we just have to squeeze the mod into our similarly-sized “spending plan”…
Keep up the awesome work, Petersiks – thank you for being so open with your ideas and hard work! You’ve been a real inspiration to my husband and I as we tackle our 1946 Cape Cod. Happy Blogiversary!!!

    GIMME THAT $500!

Since I just spent 12 HOURS cleaning out my garage, I would TOTALLY go for new shelves and bins to organize my husband’s nine trillion comic books currently being stuffed in cardboard boxes.

    OR

Since we’re getting new carpet in ONE WEEK (hence, the super Garage Clean Out of ’09) I’d TOTALLY replace $500 worth of hardware in the house because let’s face it, brass door knobs? Soooo 1990. I’m picturing something in a brushed nickel.

I would use the $500 to re-carpet my living room! My german shepherd stole the can of cooking grease from the kitchen trash can and made it almost exactly halfway across the living room before dropping it! I tried to DIY patch it and now… well… this story ends with a mis-matched carpet patch and an area rug from target, lol.

    GIMME THAT $500…

My husband and I are in the process of buying a house. It’s been a long drawn out process trying to purchase a short sale. Anyhow, I don’t want to get into that. What I do wanna get into is how to spend $500. If we get this house we want, the $500 will go into some kitchen appliances. The kitchen is pretty much gutted. So apart from having to create a kitchen space to make the home livable, we will need some appliances. A dishwasher, a stove, a refrigerator $500 will definitely help with that.

OH the kitchen kitchen kitchen. I have this old darn kitchen that makes me nutty. The faucet sound like its drilling the water out of a well when you turn the water on, my mega 60’s cabinits are an eyesore and the countertop laminate keeps peeling up on the island. Its the worst place to be in the house.
