Fab Freebie: A Wilder Watercolor

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

About six months ago, this charming watercolor painting of Burger showed up as a surprise Christmas present in our mailbox. Ain’t he cute?

Gadora Burger

Fast forward to the present day. The thoughtful artist, Gadora Wilder (the snappy alter ego of Stephanie Lewis) is back to offer up a fun YHL giveaway. Which means one of you will score an artistic still life of your very own canine, cat, canary, chameleon or even chair (yes, Gadora does pets and still lifes a plenty)!  That way you can capture your favorite furry friend or proudest decorating decision as one-of-a-kind artwork.

Gadora Sette2

Based on a photo you submit, she’ll digitally enhance it, print it on watercolor paper, over-paint it with watercolor, mat it, and send it back to you all ready to frame.

Gadora Other Chihuahua

So here’s how to get your shot at this week’s prize:

  • PRIZE: One 8×10 custom watercolor of your pet (or any other still life) by Gadora Wilder
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “WATERCOLOR THIS!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us what pet photo or still life you’d love to have rendered as a painting. An especially cute pic of your feline snuggled in bed? A goofy photo of your pup in the snow? Or that favorite cozy corner of your living room? Feel free to include a link or post the pic over on our Facebook page too.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, May 5th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: ONE
  • PRIZE SHIPS: This prize ships anywhere in the world!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    WATERCOLOR THIS – PLEASE!!!

I can’t believe this is a giveaway! I was just talking to my mom yesterday and I was trying to convince her to attempt a watercolor painting of my dog, Riley! Riley is half pug, half beagle (puggle) and is my best friend! I never win ANYTHING and this would make my day! I would love ANY picture of her… maybe on the beach, in green grass, or anything with a beautiful and bright colored background. I am currently trying to decorate the bump out in my house (also the room where Riley stays while I am at work) and this would be a perfect fit for something on my wall!
    Thanks!!

Definitely a painting of our puppy (well, 14 month old 50 lb. dog). Not sure which pose or picture though…

Probably one of her striking a pose upside down on the bed. You know the type, all legs out in the air, paws up, lips flopping open…

We’d love to have our cats Viking & Loden painted, and probably of them lying upside down on the floor with their bellies exposed. They are the silliest cats and if we can’t capture a picture of that, then a portrait of them waiting to prance on a bug outside in the garden!

I would use a picture from one of his first times out on the trails after he recovered from the pneumonia he struggled with when we first adopted him, so I have a reminder of his triumph over it and his healthy strength now!

Boy, I’d have to find something because we don’t have a pet and I can’t think of anything I already have a photo of that I’d want transformed into a watercolor — unless it was possible to do one of my architectural pictures. I’m fascinated with architecture and am always snapping photos of doorways, interesting ironwork, the juxtaposition of old vs. new (very common here in Argentina where a 17th century church could sit beside a 1990s office building). But it would also be fun to pick a spot in my house, arrange a few of my favorite things and snap a still-life.

WONDERFUL GIVEAWAY! I would so love to win this.

The timing of your giveaway is so eerie…
My first two rescues, Rose and Cody, drastically changed my life. I lost Rose a year ago after a short but brave battle with hemangiosarcoma. Cody just crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday morning… following a sudden case of acute gastritis. We rushed to the e-vet after symptoms first presented, and were sent home with ulcer medication after she was given intravenous fluids. A few hours later, I woke up from my restless sleep to her moaning. I found her unconscious, and rushed her back to the e-vet. We arrived within five minutes after I found her, and she stopped breathing on her own within minutes on the treatment table. What a blessing to spend multiple years with such wonderful creatures. The only consolation to the sudden and tragic loss is in knowing I can someday help another dog in need.
Given the slim chances of winning this wonderful prize, I hope to have an artist render one of my favorite pictures of my two “girls” into a watercolor when my savings account recovers. Back in the healthy days, both pups curled together in my bed, almost a canine ying-yang…
