Fab Freebie: A Wilder Watercolor

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

About six months ago, this charming watercolor painting of Burger showed up as a surprise Christmas present in our mailbox. Ain’t he cute?

Gadora Burger

Fast forward to the present day. The thoughtful artist, Gadora Wilder (the snappy alter ego of Stephanie Lewis) is back to offer up a fun YHL giveaway. Which means one of you will score an artistic still life of your very own canine, cat, canary, chameleon or even chair (yes, Gadora does pets and still lifes a plenty)!  That way you can capture your favorite furry friend or proudest decorating decision as one-of-a-kind artwork.

Gadora Sette2

Based on a photo you submit, she’ll digitally enhance it, print it on watercolor paper, over-paint it with watercolor, mat it, and send it back to you all ready to frame.

Gadora Other Chihuahua

So here’s how to get your shot at this week’s prize:

  • PRIZE: One 8×10 custom watercolor of your pet (or any other still life) by Gadora Wilder
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “WATERCOLOR THIS!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us what pet photo or still life you’d love to have rendered as a painting. An especially cute pic of your feline snuggled in bed? A goofy photo of your pup in the snow? Or that favorite cozy corner of your living room? Feel free to include a link or post the pic over on our Facebook page too.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, May 5th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: ONE
  • PRIZE SHIPS: This prize ships anywhere in the world!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    WATERCOLOR THIS!!!

We would love to have this for our big black and white 13 year old dog. He’s a short haired mix half mountain cur.. BEAUTIFUL. Doesn’t look or act his age at all.. much like my hubby! He’s our best friend and we’d be thrilled to have this made before he leaves us. He’s been shot, trapped, hit by a car twice, and the best friend anyone could ever ask for. My hubby has always had a favorite photo of him from when they were out hunting one year. He’s standing tall and proud. What an amazing gift for my hubby that would be!!! Hope to win!

    Thanks,
    Christy

Last year my son and his family lost their beloved Murphy – a black lab and shepherd mix – to cancer. It happened suddenly, and my five-year-old grandson was heartbroken. I’d love to be able to give this to them.

    WATERCOLOR THIS!

During a recent boudoir photo shoot my long haired chihuahua Valentine decided to get in on the action. I love the juxtaposition of soft and sharp textures in this shot, I love the faded outline of my necklaces in the left corner, and I’ve never seen a black & white watercolor before. It might be a fun challenge… Either to do it as a b & w or to add colors of her choosing, based on the artist’s mood.

I adopted my Mustang mare, Lily, from the BLM. She was rounded up from her heard in Wyoming when she was 1, and put in a cramped holding pen with a bunch of other horses for two years. No one wanted her after two years, but I can’t imagine why! As soon as I brought her home she was the sweetest horse you can imagine. She is gorgeous and proud and I named her as I took a chance on her – A Little Faith. It would mean a lot to me to have a gorgeous watercolor of her in her field!

She was my 3rd sister, she loved me with all her heart and never got mad at me or was in a bad mood!
I went on etsy to find someone who was selling an illustration of the same kind of dog, but couldn’t find one that looked “just like my Belle.”
