Fab Freebie: A Wilder Watercolor

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

About six months ago, this charming watercolor painting of Burger showed up as a surprise Christmas present in our mailbox. Ain’t he cute?

Gadora Burger

Fast forward to the present day. The thoughtful artist, Gadora Wilder (the snappy alter ego of Stephanie Lewis) is back to offer up a fun YHL giveaway. Which means one of you will score an artistic still life of your very own canine, cat, canary, chameleon or even chair (yes, Gadora does pets and still lifes a plenty)!  That way you can capture your favorite furry friend or proudest decorating decision as one-of-a-kind artwork.

Gadora Sette2

Based on a photo you submit, she’ll digitally enhance it, print it on watercolor paper, over-paint it with watercolor, mat it, and send it back to you all ready to frame.

Gadora Other Chihuahua

So here’s how to get your shot at this week’s prize:

  • PRIZE: One 8×10 custom watercolor of your pet (or any other still life) by Gadora Wilder
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “WATERCOLOR THIS!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us what pet photo or still life you’d love to have rendered as a painting. An especially cute pic of your feline snuggled in bed? A goofy photo of your pup in the snow? Or that favorite cozy corner of your living room? Feel free to include a link or post the pic over on our Facebook page too.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, May 5th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: ONE
  • PRIZE SHIPS: This prize ships anywhere in the world!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

WATERCOLOR THIS! My husband turns 40 this year and I would LOVE to commemorate his milestone with a watercolor of his gorgeous (albeit delightfully aged-and-crotchety) 15-year old black cat, H.B., who has been the longest-standing constant in his life amidst a roller coaster of relationships, schools, jobs, and residences. They have a special relationship that I deeply respect.

I have three dogs – so if I could get a portrait of all of them together (yes, I pose my dogs together!) to hang above their kennel in their room – it’d be fab – but if I had to choose just one – Mr. Zipper would be the winner as he’s had some really scary heart problems lately and I’m not entirely certain when they will get the better of him. Thankfully he’s a healthy and happy 8 year old yellow lab – you’d never know he almost died last month!

We have a great pic of our chocolate lab Berkeley back when he was just 7 weeks old. He’s chomping on his first toy football, which at the time was as big as his whole body. Now at a year and a half old, the football is the size of Berk’s paw!

This is tough. . .we just had to put our dog down so I think it’d still be a little raw to have a new picture of him up. I’m originally from Alaska and have a lot of “Alaskana” decos in our house; we’d probably choose some of those to have painted.

I’d get my favorite picture of my golden retriever, Auggie painted. He was so cute! A big baby, even at 10 years old. He died last summer the day we moved into our new house. Especially when I’m upset, I miss him a lot… he was a cuddler!
I know exactly what picture I’d choose; his sleepy expression would lend itself beautifully to watercolor.
