Fab Freebie: A Wilder Watercolor

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

About six months ago, this charming watercolor painting of Burger showed up as a surprise Christmas present in our mailbox. Ain’t he cute?

Gadora Burger

Fast forward to the present day. The thoughtful artist, Gadora Wilder (the snappy alter ego of Stephanie Lewis) is back to offer up a fun YHL giveaway. Which means one of you will score an artistic still life of your very own canine, cat, canary, chameleon or even chair (yes, Gadora does pets and still lifes a plenty)!  That way you can capture your favorite furry friend or proudest decorating decision as one-of-a-kind artwork.

Gadora Sette2

Based on a photo you submit, she’ll digitally enhance it, print it on watercolor paper, over-paint it with watercolor, mat it, and send it back to you all ready to frame.

Gadora Other Chihuahua

So here’s how to get your shot at this week’s prize:

  • PRIZE: One 8×10 custom watercolor of your pet (or any other still life) by Gadora Wilder
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “WATERCOLOR THIS!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us what pet photo or still life you’d love to have rendered as a painting. An especially cute pic of your feline snuggled in bed? A goofy photo of your pup in the snow? Or that favorite cozy corner of your living room? Feel free to include a link or post the pic over on our Facebook page too.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, May 5th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: ONE
  • PRIZE SHIPS: This prize ships anywhere in the world!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

Watercolour this! I actually have a really sweet story about how much our canines love us. My husband got his dog, Samson, a short time after his dad passed away in an accident. My husband was only a boy of nine at that time. Samson was my husband’s friend and definitely gave his family a lot of joy throughout some very difficult years. After fourteen years, Samson was getting very old and sick to the point that he had a hard time moving around. The excrutiating decision had to be made as to what would be best for him. My husband could not stomach the idea of putting him down. My mother in law had recently met her now husband and was set to get married in a few days. The day before she was going to move off of the acreage that was their home for many years, Samson quietly died. It was as if Samson was the man of the house, and stayed around for just as long as he knew their family needed him for. I would definitely get a picture of Samson painted for my husband.

Maybe a painting of my two pups, but 1) I don’t have a good pic of the two of them together (they won’t hold still) and 2) I’m not sure where I would hang it. That said, a painting of our home would be nice. It’s our first house and since the hubs is in the military, I know we’ll have to move on eventually. That would be a nice way to commemorate it.

We have a beautiful blended family of 3 cats. 2 old and wise girls that sleep the day away and 1 young stud that loves to torment them. I’d say we’d have to paint one of the older 2 since they are 10 and we’d love to have a one of a kind piece to remember them with when they are gone.
