Fab Freebie: A Wilder Watercolor

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

About six months ago, this charming watercolor painting of Burger showed up as a surprise Christmas present in our mailbox. Ain’t he cute?

Gadora Burger

Fast forward to the present day. The thoughtful artist, Gadora Wilder (the snappy alter ego of Stephanie Lewis) is back to offer up a fun YHL giveaway. Which means one of you will score an artistic still life of your very own canine, cat, canary, chameleon or even chair (yes, Gadora does pets and still lifes a plenty)!  That way you can capture your favorite furry friend or proudest decorating decision as one-of-a-kind artwork.

Gadora Sette2

Based on a photo you submit, she’ll digitally enhance it, print it on watercolor paper, over-paint it with watercolor, mat it, and send it back to you all ready to frame.

Gadora Other Chihuahua

So here’s how to get your shot at this week’s prize:

  • PRIZE: One 8×10 custom watercolor of your pet (or any other still life) by Gadora Wilder
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “WATERCOLOR THIS!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us what pet photo or still life you’d love to have rendered as a painting. An especially cute pic of your feline snuggled in bed? A goofy photo of your pup in the snow? Or that favorite cozy corner of your living room? Feel free to include a link or post the pic over on our Facebook page too.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, May 5th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: ONE
  • PRIZE SHIPS: This prize ships anywhere in the world!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    WATERCOLOR THIS!

As a young puppy lost in the hills of Berkeley, Ella had little future, but fortune found her and two neo-hippies discovered her and brought her to the Berkeley Canine Rescue. Kismet stepped in and brought her to me on Third Street where her puppy dog eyes and waggy tail made me walk away holding a leash with her on the other end of it. I would love to celebrate her 7th Birthday with a beautiful piece of art!

We would love to have a watercolor of our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. He absolutely loves the beach – it would be wonderful to have him frolicing in the sand!

Everytime she is in feisty play mode her little cheeks poof up and it’s just about the cutest thing ever, like her little lion alter-ego comes out. I just love it. Her whiskers stand straight out too! Oh, it’s just adorable.

Since pet people call their animals “kids” can kid people call their child “pet”? If so I would love to send in a pick of my little pet from when he was a baby (you know the English do it right, refer to a person as “pet” as a term of endearment!!).

    Thanks for these fun giveaways!!

What a fun giveaway! I’d love to put a portrait of my family’s dog, Zoe, on the mantle – the had part would be deciding whether to capture her in hang-out mode (lolling tongue, splayed out on the grass under the shade of the dogwood) or in terminator mode (ears perked, slight crouch, “this-is-serious-business” look on her face).

Watercolor this…or that…or the other one. I would pick either a picture of my two cats sleeping in a heart-ish shaped pile. Or I would send in a picture of my house. Or I might send in a picture of my husband and his great-grandfather, who passed away last year at 97 years old (depending on if she can do her magic with a picture that is printed on copy paper in color ink).

A precious picture of my little mutt, Cody. He is part cocker spaniel, pekingese and daschund, and the sweetest thing. I rescued him from an abusive situation 14 years ago and he has seen me through many hard times as well as fond memories. He is totally blind now and must be carried everywhere, but he still sleeps with his head on my pillow every night!
