We’d heard of the “slow food movement” before, but not the “slow clothes movement” – until this week’s giveaway sponsor reached out to us. I love to take my time eating. We spend so much time preparing our food and then promptly cleaning it all up after shoving it down in about 15 minutes. I like to take my time with my food, whether eating alone or with other people. It makes everything so much better!

Love those linens! I make quilts entirely by hand. I can work on it in little bites, and it is very satisfying to see it all come together. My first one was given to my oldest son, and now I’m in the middle of my second one. Yes, it’s a lot slower, but hey I’m not that old. My kids are still teenagers. That’s another plus: my kids get to watch the transformation.

My favorite thing to take my time on? The dishes. I find it super relaxing to hand-wash a sink full of dishes rather than to load them in the dishwasher. It helps me to clear my mind and get a little daydreaming in.

I think decorating your home is better when you take your time. I’ve been moving a lot recently and I’m always in a hurry to make the new place feel like home. But I don’t want to rush the selection of furniture or (especially) art. Yes, there is a huge blank wall in the living room, but I am waiting for something that speaks to me instead of just buying something to fill the space only to get rid of it in a year or two.
