Fab Freebie: A Taste Of India

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’d heard of the “slow food movement” before, but not the “slow clothes movement” – until this week’s giveaway sponsor reached out to us. Saffron Marigold creates luxury Indian linens, and they make each tablecloth, bedspread, curtain and pillow cover very meticulously (both to safeguard traditional techniques and deliver a high quality finished product). Just think, all of these patterns have been meticulously hand-printed inch-by-inch using traditional woodblock techniques in Saffron Marigold’s Indian artisan studios. Pretty fantastic, eh?

Saffron Table Cloths

And this week TWO of you are going to have a chance to enjoy TWO pieces of these slowly and beautifully made linens in your home. Each winner will get their choice of a lovely tablecloth or table runner…

Saffron Table Runners

…and their choice of a gorgeous and graphic cushion cover.

Saffron Cushion Covers

And while you’re over on their site browsing their stunning designs, be sure to check out the photo slideshow of their time-intensive process which details how they create all the unbelievably intricate patterns. It will truly give you an appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into these prizes. And you’ll also soon get to appreciate a sweet discount they’re dishing out (stay tuned for those details on Thursday).

Saffron Process

So here’s the gist:

  • PRIZE: Your choice of any  tablecloth or table runner from Saffron Marigold, plus one cushion cover.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MARIGOLD ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us something that you feel is always better when you take your time. Maybe you agree with the slow food or slow clothes movement? Or you prefer to give lots of time to painting or a DIY project? Perhaps you’re just a slow and very careful driver?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 9nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the WORLD!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    Marigold me!

I deliberately walk slowly on my daily commute – much more enjoyable to watch everyone else rushing and stressing out just to get to work about a minute quicker.

MARIGOLD ME!!! I take my time on walks with my dog. With a new baby in the house she gets very little one on one time, so once Daddy is home putting baby girl to bed….I take our cockapoo Izzie on her very own leisurely walk. No rushing, and plenty of time to stop and sniff! :)

I love to take my time eating. We spend so much time preparing our food and then promptly cleaning it all up after shoving it down in about 15 minutes. I like to take my time with my food, whether eating alone or with other people. It makes everything so much better!

Love those linens! I make quilts entirely by hand. I can work on it in little bites, and it is very satisfying to see it all come together. My first one was given to my oldest son, and now I’m in the middle of my second one. Yes, it’s a lot slower, but hey I’m not that old. My kids are still teenagers. That’s another plus: my kids get to watch the transformation.

I think decorating your home is better when you take your time. I’ve been moving a lot recently and I’m always in a hurry to make the new place feel like home. But I don’t want to rush the selection of furniture or (especially) art. Yes, there is a huge blank wall in the living room, but I am waiting for something that speaks to me instead of just buying something to fill the space only to get rid of it in a year or two.

This has probably been said a lot already, but you definitely need to devote some time to paint edging! The previous owners of our house didn’t do this, and all the trim and ceiling/wall corners look just plain junky. (Another addition to our ever-growing list of half-a** jobs the previous homeowners did.) Take your time the first time!
