Fab Freebie: A Taste Of India

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’d heard of the “slow food movement” before, but not the “slow clothes movement” – until this week’s giveaway sponsor reached out to us. Saffron Marigold creates luxury Indian linens, and they make each tablecloth, bedspread, curtain and pillow cover very meticulously (both to safeguard traditional techniques and deliver a high quality finished product). Just think, all of these patterns have been meticulously hand-printed inch-by-inch using traditional woodblock techniques in Saffron Marigold’s Indian artisan studios. Pretty fantastic, eh?

Saffron Table Cloths

And this week TWO of you are going to have a chance to enjoy TWO pieces of these slowly and beautifully made linens in your home. Each winner will get their choice of a lovely tablecloth or table runner…

Saffron Table Runners

…and their choice of a gorgeous and graphic cushion cover.

Saffron Cushion Covers

And while you’re over on their site browsing their stunning designs, be sure to check out the photo slideshow of their time-intensive process which details how they create all the unbelievably intricate patterns. It will truly give you an appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into these prizes. And you’ll also soon get to appreciate a sweet discount they’re dishing out (stay tuned for those details on Thursday).

Saffron Process

So here’s the gist:

  • PRIZE: Your choice of any  tablecloth or table runner from Saffron Marigold, plus one cushion cover.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MARIGOLD ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us something that you feel is always better when you take your time. Maybe you agree with the slow food or slow clothes movement? Or you prefer to give lots of time to painting or a DIY project? Perhaps you’re just a slow and very careful driver?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 9nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the WORLD!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

Writing thank you cards. I always feel like the recipient will tell if it’s written generically. So I try to slow down and really think about what I want to portray to the person.

Definitely cleaning… I hate it when I do a shabby job and then the next day see where I missed something and feel like I wasted all the time cleaning.

Stretching. It’s always a better day when I slow down and make time to stretch all those muscles. And the slower I stretch, the better it feels.

I do a lot of drawing and painting, and it’s definitely more successful when I can slow down and spend 30 hours on something rather than just 15.

    Marigold Me!!

I always think it’s better to take your time when you are getting ready every morning. Nothing is worse than waking up late, running out the door and not feeling prepared and at your best from the start of your day. Although it’s nice to sleep in, it’s even better to wake up early, get a few things done around the house, and feel 100% prepared and ready to go . I’ve learned to drag myself out of bed at 6:30 just so I can shower and get ready, make breakfast for the bf & I, and tidy up BEFORE I leave. It’s so much nicer than coming home to a whirlwind mess!!

Cooking. I believe when you take your time to slice, chop, cook, taste, cook some more, taste some more..the better the dish turns out. Same could be said for a slow cooker. Delicious every time.

Definately reading a story to my little girl. Sometimes you rush because there is so much to do and you need all the extra minutes you can find in a day. But is is so much more fun when you slow down and make the funny voices, sing the songs and point to all the pretty pictures. I think my baby girl would agree!

    Marigold Me!

I made this necklace for myself for my wedding (http://www.flickr.com/photos/carthyjewelry/3873138664/). It is made up of hundreds of links with tiny little seed pearls, each one wrapped by hand. It took me forever, and I’m sure it contributed to my need for a new eyeglass prescription, but it felt so special to wear it on my big day.

I would never be able to make a profit on something so time-consuming, so I know I’ll never make another one like it.

MARIGOLD ME! Just love the fabrics — so beautiful. Hmm….slowly taking the time to measure out all the ingredients for a baked goods item. I set everything up on the kitchen table, measure everything out, and then start to assemble the recipe. That way I never miss an ingredient!

Anyway – LOVE these printed tablecloths & pillows. Gorgeous. My dining room needs just this to pull it all together.

Reading bedtime stories with my 2 year old and my one year old boys is better when it’s done slowly and I relish every moment. I hate when the day speeds by and I speed up the bath time, bedtime process because I am trying to get them in bed before 8. It’s the best when the three of us-sometimes four when my husband’s home, cuddle up on our big cushy rocking chair to talk about the day, read multiple bedtime stories and explore the pictures. These days go by so fast I have to remind myself there will be plenty of time to clean up the kitchen later.

I’ve been hurt by many people that I thought were my friends and I have no tolerance for those types of people anymore.
