Fab Freebie: A Taste Of India

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’d heard of the “slow food movement” before, but not the “slow clothes movement” – until this week’s giveaway sponsor reached out to us. Saffron Marigold creates luxury Indian linens, and they make each tablecloth, bedspread, curtain and pillow cover very meticulously (both to safeguard traditional techniques and deliver a high quality finished product). Just think, all of these patterns have been meticulously hand-printed inch-by-inch using traditional woodblock techniques in Saffron Marigold’s Indian artisan studios. Pretty fantastic, eh?

Saffron Table Cloths

And this week TWO of you are going to have a chance to enjoy TWO pieces of these slowly and beautifully made linens in your home. Each winner will get their choice of a lovely tablecloth or table runner…

Saffron Table Runners

…and their choice of a gorgeous and graphic cushion cover.

Saffron Cushion Covers

And while you’re over on their site browsing their stunning designs, be sure to check out the photo slideshow of their time-intensive process which details how they create all the unbelievably intricate patterns. It will truly give you an appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into these prizes. And you’ll also soon get to appreciate a sweet discount they’re dishing out (stay tuned for those details on Thursday).

Saffron Process

So here’s the gist:

  • PRIZE: Your choice of any  tablecloth or table runner from Saffron Marigold, plus one cushion cover.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MARIGOLD ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us something that you feel is always better when you take your time. Maybe you agree with the slow food or slow clothes movement? Or you prefer to give lots of time to painting or a DIY project? Perhaps you’re just a slow and very careful driver?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 9nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the WORLD!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    MARIGOLD ME!

I like to take my time over dinner with friends. There’s nothing better than catching up, sharing a laugh (and dessert), and enjoying the company of those who know you best.

    MARIGOLD ME!

One thing that is always better when I take my time is eating a Reese’s peanut butter cup: first I nibble the little spikes of chocolate that stick up over the rim of the cup, then I bite around the chocolate perimeter, then I eat in a slow spiral around the edge of the peanut butter & chocolate disk until it’s finally done.

As a massage therapist, I have to go with deep tissue massage. I take my time to warm up the soft tissue before doing any deep work. It’s more effective and the client doesn’t wake up sore the next day.

I take my time when making decisions – especially relating to decorating. I think about how we will use the space and wait for that piece I love (fabric, a pillow) to base the design around. It helps me focus and create a pulled together room.

Any DIY project should be done slowly and carefully… “Measure twice, cut once” not only helps you get a professional look, but you will be much happier with the results!

Oh, and a good homemade sauce always tastes better when done slowly and simmered to perfection!

MARIGOLD ME! So many things are better when you take your time, but I’ll go with planting a perennial garden. It’s better when you take your time because you’ll undoubtedly find plants that don’t do well where you first planted them, and need to rearrange. Also, nurseries tend to stock what’s blooming now and shoppers tend to buy what is currently sporting pretty flowers, so if you continually add plants throughout the growing season, you’ll ensure that something is always blooming in your garden.

I take my time to put my daughter to bed every night.
She is nine and half and I feel before I know it she will be in College. I try to enjoy my present with her knowing that this too shall pass. Sometimes we just talk and sometimes there are bedtime stories but everyday there is a prayer of thankfulness!

May sound odd, but I like to take my time ironing. I know, I know, who actually irons in this day, but I do! I find it relaxing, and theraputic. If I have to mull something over, I’ll pull out the iron and board, and “think on it”.
