Fab Freebie: A Taste Of India

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’d heard of the “slow food movement” before, but not the “slow clothes movement” – until this week’s giveaway sponsor reached out to us. Saffron Marigold creates luxury Indian linens, and they make each tablecloth, bedspread, curtain and pillow cover very meticulously (both to safeguard traditional techniques and deliver a high quality finished product). Just think, all of these patterns have been meticulously hand-printed inch-by-inch using traditional woodblock techniques in Saffron Marigold’s Indian artisan studios. Pretty fantastic, eh?

Saffron Table Cloths

And this week TWO of you are going to have a chance to enjoy TWO pieces of these slowly and beautifully made linens in your home. Each winner will get their choice of a lovely tablecloth or table runner…

Saffron Table Runners

…and their choice of a gorgeous and graphic cushion cover.

Saffron Cushion Covers

And while you’re over on their site browsing their stunning designs, be sure to check out the photo slideshow of their time-intensive process which details how they create all the unbelievably intricate patterns. It will truly give you an appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into these prizes. And you’ll also soon get to appreciate a sweet discount they’re dishing out (stay tuned for those details on Thursday).

Saffron Process

So here’s the gist:

  • PRIZE: Your choice of any  tablecloth or table runner from Saffron Marigold, plus one cushion cover.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MARIGOLD ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us something that you feel is always better when you take your time. Maybe you agree with the slow food or slow clothes movement? Or you prefer to give lots of time to painting or a DIY project? Perhaps you’re just a slow and very careful driver?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 9nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the WORLD!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

Marigold me! I’m slow by nature – fast-talkers & those who rush through the day puzzle me. :-) They miss being here now. I enjoy taking my time gardening, kneading bread and letting it develop lots of flavor in an overnight rise. I brush my dogs’ coats slowly and they looove it!

    MARIGOLD ME!

I think gardening is better when taken slow. I plan or purchase things sometimes a year or two in advance! I recently took advantage of a clearance sale at one of my favorite online sellers, buying small seedlings for a fraction of the cost in stores.

Because I did the same thing last year, I have robust, beautiful 2nd year plants and flowers to enjoy while nurturing the little seedlings to maturity this year.

To me, gardening is a great lesson in patience, hard work, and that good things come to those who wait. :)

My mom has always been a quilter and I have recently purchased my first sewing machine and am learning how to quilt and sew. I have learned that if you rush any of the sewing process no matter what your project is, it won’t look good and you will have to end up unpicking what you did.

I think slow mornings make a work day so much better, even if that means we get up earlier. That way I can snuggle for a few minutes after the alarm and get up and sit and dry off in my towel, have a nice breakfast and coffee with my husband before we go off to our crazy NOT-slow-at-all days!

Loooove those pillow covers. They are stunning!!

Marigold Me! When it comes to taking your time, nothing can be better than enjoying a relaxing bedtime story with your kids. You really only have a few precious years where they will request the nightly ritual, so enjoy it, cherish, and don’t rush. Make the funny voices, speak slowly, and relect on the words that you read to them

MARIGOLD ME! I like to take my time in the mornings – I’ve learned that packing the diaper bag the night before presents a peaceful morning, where I get breakfast too, instead of just my 14-mo old daughter. She senses that I’m not stressed, which makes her happy, and we’re able to have a few minutes of playtime before rushing out the door.

I love taking my time shopping. I find that when I’m at the store and am rushed I wind up just throwing things in the cart and then wind up having to come back to the store and return some of them later. I like to plan…especially when it comes to when I’m looking for something particular for my closet or the home. I like to start researching online first, comparing prices and styles (and even check for coupons) and then go to my selected store and pick up the item I covet.
