Fab Freebie: A Taste Of India

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’d heard of the “slow food movement” before, but not the “slow clothes movement” – until this week’s giveaway sponsor reached out to us. Saffron Marigold creates luxury Indian linens, and they make each tablecloth, bedspread, curtain and pillow cover very meticulously (both to safeguard traditional techniques and deliver a high quality finished product). Just think, all of these patterns have been meticulously hand-printed inch-by-inch using traditional woodblock techniques in Saffron Marigold’s Indian artisan studios. Pretty fantastic, eh?

Saffron Table Cloths

And this week TWO of you are going to have a chance to enjoy TWO pieces of these slowly and beautifully made linens in your home. Each winner will get their choice of a lovely tablecloth or table runner…

Saffron Table Runners

…and their choice of a gorgeous and graphic cushion cover.

Saffron Cushion Covers

And while you’re over on their site browsing their stunning designs, be sure to check out the photo slideshow of their time-intensive process which details how they create all the unbelievably intricate patterns. It will truly give you an appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into these prizes. And you’ll also soon get to appreciate a sweet discount they’re dishing out (stay tuned for those details on Thursday).

Saffron Process

So here’s the gist:

  • PRIZE: Your choice of any  tablecloth or table runner from Saffron Marigold, plus one cushion cover.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MARIGOLD ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us something that you feel is always better when you take your time. Maybe you agree with the slow food or slow clothes movement? Or you prefer to give lots of time to painting or a DIY project? Perhaps you’re just a slow and very careful driver?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 9nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the WORLD!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I feel like it’s good to take your time reading…I have a hard time NOT skimming over things sometimes. And then I make an error (like when I recently started buying supplies for SIX square foot gardens when I only intended to do one. We settled for three!) It totally pays to read slowly!

    Marigold me! Please!

With two kids under three we pretty much do everything slowly. I used to try to rush them everywhere but all we ended up was late and frazzled. Now we slow down and enjoy and are all a lot happier.

While it isn’t always good for raising your heart rate and getting the work out burn, a nice slow walk where you take time to enjoy nature does a whole lot for my spirit!

I love to take my time when I bake bread-the slower it rises the better it tastes! I make the dough the night before, put it in the fridge to rise and bake it when I get up the next morning. It’s cheaper than buying it (in my area), and it tastes better too! Fresh bread right out of the oven first thing in the morning, could there be anything better?

I like to take my time in the mornings spending it with my children before they take off for school. If we start the day off slow, enjoying a nice breakfast together, their behaviour is so “much better” for the whole day!

I like doing things slowly which I normally do in a rush. That way, I break out of routines and realize and enjoy what I am doing all the time. I also like long, slow walks because I often walk in haste.

Take it slow in the seemingly mundane everyday life things- cooking, eating dinner together, going grocery shopping. My husband is military so each moment we spend together and he is not deployed is precious. :)

I like to take time for my friends, not only meeting up, but writing an e-mail, texting, buying something for them when I see it while shopping. because investing in people is the best thing you can do and it will pay off one day.
Also making presents for birthdays/ christmas – it often takes me quite long to finish, but in the end i have a unique present that often means more to the receiver than a store-bought one.

MARIGOLD ME! This is my first time entering. And this is because I really like the prize. I’ve very fond of textiles and I really apreciate the fact it’s printed in a traditional way. As for what makes me take my time, it’s definetely cooking and eating. I’m all for the slow food movement. I enjoy the cooking and taking time to eat it, with friends, talking around a table. I like those lunches where you start at 13:00 and only leave the table at 16:00, 17:00… It’s also a winter thing that I associate with the hollydays and visiting my grandparents. Love it.

Marigold me! I take my time when I sew clothing. I used to live in a posh little area right outside of NYC and one of my favorite things to do was go into the high end clothing boutiques that I could not afford. Then I would give myself a budget and re-create whatever it is that I wanted for a fraction of the price. It really takes time to make a nice piece of clothing that looks like high end but it’s well worth it. I love it when people are insistent on finding out where I purchased something and it’s handmade.
