Fab Freebie: A Taste Of India

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’d heard of the “slow food movement” before, but not the “slow clothes movement” – until this week’s giveaway sponsor reached out to us. Saffron Marigold creates luxury Indian linens, and they make each tablecloth, bedspread, curtain and pillow cover very meticulously (both to safeguard traditional techniques and deliver a high quality finished product). Just think, all of these patterns have been meticulously hand-printed inch-by-inch using traditional woodblock techniques in Saffron Marigold’s Indian artisan studios. Pretty fantastic, eh?

Saffron Table Cloths

And this week TWO of you are going to have a chance to enjoy TWO pieces of these slowly and beautifully made linens in your home. Each winner will get their choice of a lovely tablecloth or table runner…

Saffron Table Runners

…and their choice of a gorgeous and graphic cushion cover.

Saffron Cushion Covers

And while you’re over on their site browsing their stunning designs, be sure to check out the photo slideshow of their time-intensive process which details how they create all the unbelievably intricate patterns. It will truly give you an appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into these prizes. And you’ll also soon get to appreciate a sweet discount they’re dishing out (stay tuned for those details on Thursday).

Saffron Process

So here’s the gist:

  • PRIZE: Your choice of any  tablecloth or table runner from Saffron Marigold, plus one cushion cover.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MARIGOLD ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us something that you feel is always better when you take your time. Maybe you agree with the slow food or slow clothes movement? Or you prefer to give lots of time to painting or a DIY project? Perhaps you’re just a slow and very careful driver?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 9nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the WORLD!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    MARIGOLD ME!

Painting a room. I don’t let my husband paint because he tried to hurry up and do it too fast. If you take your time and don’t speed thru it (it might take 3 days for a whole room!) it will always come out looking like a professional did it, with a much cheaper cost. Just take time when you paint! I like to do my thinking then. haha!

I think it’s best to take it slow when making big purchases such as a car, house, or even furniture. It gives plenty of time to really research the item and see how it will fit in your life or work in the room you have created. Plus it saves money on return shipping.

    Marigold Me!

I love spending time with my kid, just focused on her, going at her pace, doing what she wants to do with no agenda of my own, As a control freak and someone who excels at multi-tasking and efficiency, I deeply appreciate slowing down to just be and she’s great at helping me do that.

I think take my time with DIY projects. I try to do things “right” (especially when the previous owner cut all corners…never even connected one ground wire, crazy!). Most of the time this comes off as trying to do a professional job, but I have a had a few friends tell me that it’s perfectionism…

I love so many things slow, especially slow food. I didnt even eat take out food until I was in my twenties, our family just didnt do it. I had McDonalds for the first time at 28!! Im 40 now and I look way younger than my friends, I truly believe it is due to slow food, slow life, slow attitude, dont get me wrong, Im sharp, fast thinker, and work prolifically but I do all things from the slow lane, it enriches your life and is a wonderful trait to pass onto the kids.

CLEANING is definitely better when I take my time! It’s strange, but there is something so satisfying about dedicating a whole day to cleaning my apartment bit by bit. I alternate loads of laundry with a little TLC for my bathroom, kitchen counters, and bookshelves, all while watching my newest Netflix acquisitions. End result: a thoroughly clean place, new movies to discuss with my friends, and a bit less to worry about later in the week! :)

Those clothes are so beautiful and really makes me feel like being in India (this is way I love u’r blog, it’s like window shopping, for a few moments u can be somewhere else or be someone else).
I am a very impatience person, I simply just can’t wait. Being a mother of 3 little ones I have learned to become a lot more patient, learning how to accept their way of doing things, with lots of baby steps on the way. Finding the peacefulness of doing things together and not always getting it right the first time.

Having given birth to my 1st baby recently has reminded me how important it is to slow life down. I often find myself trying to fit lots of chores in while he is sleeping but actually I’m happier when I slow down with a good cup of tea and a snack. Slowing everything down feels better, especially moments with my baby… (slow food is FAB too!)

I like to take my time when I shave my legs. Going slowly always makes it turn out better for 2 reasons 1) you don’t miss spots and realize when you’re out in the world and 2) you don’t hurt yourself.
