Fab Freebie: A Taste Of India

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’d heard of the “slow food movement” before, but not the “slow clothes movement” – until this week’s giveaway sponsor reached out to us. Saffron Marigold creates luxury Indian linens, and they make each tablecloth, bedspread, curtain and pillow cover very meticulously (both to safeguard traditional techniques and deliver a high quality finished product). Just think, all of these patterns have been meticulously hand-printed inch-by-inch using traditional woodblock techniques in Saffron Marigold’s Indian artisan studios. Pretty fantastic, eh?

Saffron Table Cloths

And this week TWO of you are going to have a chance to enjoy TWO pieces of these slowly and beautifully made linens in your home. Each winner will get their choice of a lovely tablecloth or table runner…

Saffron Table Runners

…and their choice of a gorgeous and graphic cushion cover.

Saffron Cushion Covers

And while you’re over on their site browsing their stunning designs, be sure to check out the photo slideshow of their time-intensive process which details how they create all the unbelievably intricate patterns. It will truly give you an appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into these prizes. And you’ll also soon get to appreciate a sweet discount they’re dishing out (stay tuned for those details on Thursday).

Saffron Process

So here’s the gist:

  • PRIZE: Your choice of any  tablecloth or table runner from Saffron Marigold, plus one cushion cover.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MARIGOLD ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us something that you feel is always better when you take your time. Maybe you agree with the slow food or slow clothes movement? Or you prefer to give lots of time to painting or a DIY project? Perhaps you’re just a slow and very careful driver?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 9nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the WORLD!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

“MARIGOLD ME!” Oh, I have been drooling over the gorgeous linens at Saffron Marigold ever since you acquired them as a sponsor. Their designs and colors fit perfectly with my home.

As to slowing down, right now I’m on a dietary regime that requires 5 meals a day, every 2-3 hours. No salt, sugar, fat, dairy or wheat. So I prepare everything myself, sometimes in batches but much of what I eat is fresh fruits and vegetables. This takes a lot of time, but it’s worth it.

And when I am sewing I try to slow down, especially when I get near the end of a big project. My tendency is to speed up at the end, but it’s much easier to make mistakes when rushing so ye olde seam-ripper gets a lot of action!

    Marigold me! these are stunning….

As a professional classical musician, I know exactly how long it takes to get to that point; years and years of careful, thoughtful practice…and a journey that is worth far more than the sum of the individual concerts.

I have to be honest that I am not good at doing anything slowly; I just have a fairly frenetic personality! But, it is my goal to learn to slow down and enjoy the beautiful moments :)

    MARIGOLD ME!!!…

cooking, eating and clean-up of dinner…it’s usually rushed in my house, mostly because my hubby and me are starving by the time we get home from work that we can’t wait a second to have food in our hollow tummies…but on the odd time we do take our time and cook together while drinking a glass of wine and then eat slowly while we share stories and then do the dishes after together..it makes that experience so much better – plus, the food taste that much better too!

I think we all tend to rush through life without taking the time to notice things. I like to take my time noticing the beautiful things in life. Like flowers, my stepson’s laugh, my husband’s smile, my dog’s soft fur…

Taking time with my husband makes our relationship so much stronger. It’s easy to take each other for granted and our relationship tends to get out of whack when we run too fast through life. Days where we slow down and savor each other help revitalize our partnership.

I like to take my time on diy projects. Painting simple nightstands has taken weeks because of work and other family things…but I also like to do one side at a time and let it thoroughly dry before the next coat..
