Fab Freebie: A Literal Fab Freebie

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

You guys hit the 10,000 entry cap to giveaway within 24 hours, so you must love some Fab as much as I do (or perhaps you just like $500). Either way, we’ve crowned a random winner and it is… Whitney (who says “Most of my apartment is muted gray, yellow, and blue, but my kitchen has bright red baking dishes on display.”) Congrats Whitney!

I’m a recent addict to Fab (I own more t-shirts from there than I probably should admit). So imagine my reaction when I got an email from them offering to do a – wait for it – $500 Fab gift card giveaway for you guys. Their site includes items marked down between 10-60% from retail prices across just about every category – home, accessories, art, kitchen, pets, kids, clothing, jewelry, etc. And everything is selected with a discriminating-but-not-too-serious design eye. There’s an emphasis on quirky, weird, and colorful items within their sales… which means there’s a lot of fun to be had while spending the five hundred beans that are up for grabs.

Fab Dot Com Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A $500 gift card toward Fab
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “FAB ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …what’s something weird, quirky, or colorful in your home that you love? Is it a bold art print in your entryway? An armchair with a happy pattern in your living room? Or several dozen ceramic animals placed throughout your house… not that we’d know anything about that.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 30th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States, Canada, and much of Europe (click here for a specific list of countries)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Fab.

    FAB ME!

We have mostly muted, earthy, moody colors in this house, but the kitchen cabinets are Tiffany Turquoise and SO fab! With vanilla walls and red accessories, it’s a fantastic retro kitchen.

We have a bright pink glass backsplash in our kitchen which we love, & have other pops of the colour elsewhere in the kitchen (washing up bowls, the kettle a towel or 2). We love it.

I also love the home-made artwork in our daughter’s room – I painted some canvases taking inspiration from her bedcover.

Fab me! I can’t help loving my upholstered headboard I made a couple years ago. It’s covered in an adorably kitschy lemon fabrix that makes me smile every time I see it.

I have a print, modern as hell, with clouds and geometic shapes and in a super hipster font it says: This To Shall Pass….which is a phrase my Great-Grandmother used to say to me nearly every day. I love the juxtaposition, the uber-modern that appeals to my aesthetic and the phrase that never fails to make me think of my Taun-Taun and smile…

Fab Me. The quirkiest thing in our home is a piece of interactive art my husband and I purchased when we were first married nearly nine years ago. It is a little dog next to a fence and a little turtle on a fence post (when you turn a nob his head goes inside his shell). It was just so adorable, and we loved the idea that the turtle didn’t get up to new heights by himself — the animals worked together (fitting for us newlyweds at the time!). :-)

I have a collection of hippos… 2 hand-carved, mahogany wood (approx. a foot long) and 2 smaller soapstone hippos to commemorate my and my dad’s trips to Africa. They are all completely different shapes and styles and weights and sizes. It’s such a fun and funky little group of memories!

We have a lot of quirk and furniture made of found pieces. Factory machine legs support our dining table, a large flat basket provides a frame for a mirror, an antique beer tray is my version of a perfume display. Our kitchen is painted in horizontal stripes and there’s a surf board hanging over our bed, and all of our old license plates hanging next to my dressing table. Love it all!

One of my favorite pieces is a planter’s clock that my dad gave to my grandparents in the 70’s. It not only tells the time but also has a dial that tells you the best time to plant certain veggies. When my grandparents downsized their home they gave it back to my dad, who in return gave it to me because of my love of gardening. I live in a different state now, and it reminds me of my family on a daily basis!
